Mom called the game warden about the hawks one time. He tried to tell her they were protected. She said her squirrels were the protected species in her yard and if he didn’t come down and get rid of them she would take her 38 and fix the problem herself.
Just talked to mil, she said we had a 1/2” yesterday.
How many rain barrels does that fill? The fog burned off early yesterday but we did not set a new record. I heard 2 quick gun shots at 9:30 last night so maybe someone shot one of the three bears plaguing the neighborhood although my First Wife is reporting the neighbor’s garbage is spread across the street. She is a newbie and will learn to not to put the can out until morning...
Didn’t fill any, will have to pay better attention to set them up. :(
As I’ve said before, they cleaned the bears out of Texas a long time ago. Should we send help?
They’re probably just raccoons but we’ll humor him. I had to set up a lock-bar on my outside cans in Bandon so the raccoons wouldn’t make a mess.
Reading NASCAR news before my dog-nap. Job interview this afternoon (not excited about it) then tomorrow I’m taking Mrs. Happydog to a meeting in Medford. Since I’ll have six hours of dead-time I’ve booked a jet-boat trip up the Rogue River from Grants Pass. Somebodys gotta do it. :)
Just send a couple cattle trucks with enough fuel to return to Texas.
The river trip sounds like a blast.
We will not be sending a truck for a bunch of coons, we haven’t terminated all of ours yet.
Yup, lunch at the OK Corral:

Supposed to cool down to 102 tomorrow in Medford from a high of 107 today.
I shot a lot of raccoons in Bandon before I built a bar to cover the barbage cans. They ate my corn, too. I have yet to see a raccoon up here in the high-desert. Rattlesnakes, yes, not raccoons. I don’t think I “traded up” on that exchange.
And I know Bear shit from a Raccoon’s
I’m not sure, tubebender. I’ll have to check it out. We’ve done several trips from both Grants Pass (inland) and Gold Beach (coast)before. Both have gone quite a ways up into Wild and Scenic areas. A Gold Beach trip will take you as far up as you can go before you hit the prohibited area - an all-day trip - to a very rustic resort(a few cabins/small restaurant) where Zane Grey used to write some of his novels.
My trip tomorrow is just a “shorty”, but from experience those lunches are very good.
I gotta go brush my coat and practice not drooling so I can look hireable.
Happydogx2
Was out about 60 miles west today and rain into some of the butterfly migrants, not bad though, yet.
I grabbed a few pics during the ESPN special of the Nascar guys at the WH today.
Just keep clicking back to the right there should be about 15
Up river from Grants Pass. We’ve gone up to Hellgate canyon (36 miles) and thats as far as you can go.

Below is a good map of the Rogue from Gold Beach. Paradise bar is as far as you can go. Your guide will tell you the story of the helicopters bringing food to the actors for the movies they filmed up there. The areas inbetween the two stop points are for rafts ony, limited number each season. I don’t recall a real dam directly on the Rogue; maybe there is one on one of its tributaries. (Illinois River?)

My interview went far to well. Hot looking Golden Retriever interviewed me. She had a really nice collar on and keep checking my coat out. I DID almost drool!
Another term to look up, Butterfly Migrants. It’s 100 degrees outside w/15% humidity. It there’s any migrants out there they’re dead.
I gotta check out WCG NASCAR photos. Anyone know if speed will carry any of that show?
That was sort of depressing with all of our Nascar favorites hanging out with the one.
God pics though. ;)
This is a map of the Monarchs routing.
It's something we really take for granted, they always come, just like the hawks, but they are all passing through. Later on, the geese will come and they stay for the winter, Canadas, snow, and several others.
GOOD
I Swore I saw a dam and pool from Hiway 99 just above GP. Found this anyway and I am off to Church... http://www.usbr.gov/pmts/sediment/projects/SavageRapids/SavageRapids.htm
