Russia has arrested eight people who hijacked the merchant ship Arctic Sea, Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies on Tuesday.
Serdyukov was quoted as saying that the hijackers of the ship, whose disappearance baffled maritime authorities for weeks, included nationals from Russia, Estonia and Latvia.

Hmmm, I don’t remember hearing anything about this yesterday. The state-run media tried to keep it a secret?
I work for the Air Force and live in Germany; I have a satellite decoder and a subscription to Italian Television because I am fluent in Italian. Long story short, it has been all over the Italian newscasts.
It’s been pretty well covered. They may have backed off a little because of some confusion caused by Russia’s ambassador to Cape Verde.

“There was information that a cargo ship similar to the one being searched for was spotted 400 nautical miles north of the island of Santo Antao,” said Alexander Karpushin, Russia’s ambassador to Cape Verde.
“However, this information did not prove to be true,” he added, citing a meeting with the head of Cape Verde’s armed forces.
