Since it will be a few months before Michael Vick takes the field, PETA has decided to target someone else in preparation - fat people.
A new ad campaign, which recently launched in Jacksonville, takes aim at overweight people in about as direct a way as you can. A huge billboard in the city reads, "Save the Whales. Lose The Blubber. Go Vegetarian." Next to the words is a pretty large woman, who looks to be about a biscuit away from becoming a whale dressed in a polka-dot bikini.
Now, that's a low blow.
"Our goal is help overweight Jacksonville residents - the best way to do that is to go vegetarian. We're not trying to insult anyone," Ashley Byrne, a senior campaigner for PETA told Huffington Post. "Vegetarians look and feel better than meat eaters. This is a life-saving message."

Their goal “.. is to help”
Their goal is NEVER to help anyone but themselves. No reason to believe it now. Also, Being a vegetarian does NOT mean weight loss.
Perhaps they (both PETA and anyone looking to lose weight) should just go out and burn up some calories. And if one of those people are going to the beach for the day, that counts. Stay outdoors, put down the remote, and ignore PETA. Health follows :)
Finally, a cause we can all get behind....(running for shelter)...
Someone should remind PETA that they are the largest killer of animals in the US, in their shelter system.
FUPETA.
“Vegetarians look and feel better than meat eaters”
Has anyone ever seen a healthy looking vegetarian? They always look wan and sickly to me.
When you had your, appendix, removed at last,
They didn't know whether to operate or blast,
Oh let me go, let me go, let me go, blubber,
Pound for pound you are just too much for me...

This chick Ashley Byrne must have a complex about her looks, or she’s very shallow. A quick Google is very “revealing” — she often protests in a bikini.
Ah, the liberal left is so kind, aren’t they?
No kidding, in an eight year period, a shelter for Corinth, Mississippi (a town of 12K), euthanized between 15,000 and 20,000 animals. The problem is irresponsible animal owners and a legal system and set of laws that encourages irresponsible pet ownership.
Man, if there were ever going to be an amnesty for beating the snot out of people...
LOL!
The ones I've known have always been downright fat or overweight -- many of them make the mistake of doubling up on the cheese, extra helpings of tofu (which is very high fat) and go carb crazy.
Hollywood ain’t gonna like this.
It’s carbs that make you fat, not meat.
I actually lost a fair bit of weight eating nothing BUT meat, with a few vegetables thrown in.
One could be a “vegetarian,” and eat chips, bread, sweets, etc. and still be a whale.
Once again, PETA is the Master of SOYD syndrome (Step On Your own D**k)
This is the same organization that suggested human extinction as THE cure for many environmental woes....
...still waiting on them to be the real "leaders" of the human extinction movement...
Yes, and a lot of those two billion are killed right in my county in southern Delaware. We are the broiler capital of the world with three processing plants that process over 200 million chickens a year.
Them’s for eatin, my friend.
PETA kills more dogs and cats than anyone else in the US, for all their task about the poor critters.
And if they had their way, you wouldn’t be eating any chicken either.
OK, I’m up for a class action law suit, maybe we can use all their funds for a good cause, do we have anyone else out there, say 20+ lbs and up to sign on.
That's been my experience with many vegetarians. They'll eat a whole bag of Doritos, but think that because they're not eating meat, they're coming out ahead.
Instead of a program where we sell "Carbon credits", how about a program where people can sell "Carb credits"? For every 3,500 calories that you don't consume, you can sell those calories to some fat person who wants to eat more.
I know this one who buys pepperoni pizza and calls herself a vegetarian because she picks the pepperonis off. Excuse me, is she planning on gluing the pieces back together to make a pig? Throwing the poor pig in the garbage is waaay worse than eating it.
AMEN. Carbs turn to sugar, sugar turns to sugar, every thing on the shelf has sugar, every drink but water has sugar, we are bombarded with sugar. Ever tried to find sugar free or minimal sugered items? High fructose corn syrup is the main ingrediant for every item at the grocery store, slight exaggeration, but not far from reality.
Same here. I have several friends who are hard core vegetarians. None of them have good color and appear gaunt and pale. They also lack energy (we do a lot of hiking together). They tend to have to eat constantly to keep their energy level up. They also tend to get sick way more often.
A perfect example of attention-seeking behavior.
Nearly all vegetarians fall into this category.
You guessed it. Low self esteme but out for any and all attention she can garner.
>Its carbs that make you fat, not meat.
+1000, for a lot of us. Maybe there are some out there who can load up on carbs but that’s not me or my family.
The only way I can keep the weight off is low-carb. Plus we have a strong family history of diabetes and reactive hypoglycemia, which excess carbs makes a lot worse.

Shove it.
“They tend to have to eat constantly to keep their energy level up.”
Herbivores gotta graze, it’s their job description.
Life’s tough further down the food chain.
and the silence from the feminists is deafening.
