August 17, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- On a day that city workers are on forced-furloughs to save money, the Chicago Fire Department confirms that it afforded special treatment this weekend to the wife of Rev. Jesse Jackson by assigning a city ambulance to drive her from O'Hare Airport to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Chicago Fire Department rules and regulations explicitly state that requests for non-emergency transports by city ambulances must be denied without the approval of the fire commissioner or his designee. That is just what happened over the weekend, when special treatment was afforded to Jacqueline Jackson, the wife of Rev. Jesse Jackson who had broken her leg a few days earlier during a trip to Africa.

Jackie Jackson broke her leg last Thursday during the Jacksons visit to Ivory Coast, Africa. It happened when a stage collapsed under too much weight and movement from enthusiastic attendees and dancers. She was removed from the wreckage and taken to a local hospital. The leg was set and cast there.

When she arrived at O'Hare via Air France on Saturday afternoon, a private ambulance was awaiting her arrival, which would be the usual transport method to a hospital for a private citizen according to fire department sources. But then a city ambulance arrived and ended up taking her to Northwestern Hospital downtown.

A fire department spokesman says deputy commissioner Mark Levinson authorized ambulance two from the Cumberland stationhouse to be pressed into what is called 'special duty' to meet Mrs. Jackson's jetliner from Paris.

A paramedic-service source familiar with the O'Hare pick-up says normally special duty is reserved for well-being visits, gas and tune-up checks-not the non-emergency transport of VIPs.

The city's fire department spokesman, who is himself on mandated furlough, maintains that the use of city ambulances is totally at the

They are obviously more equal than we are.

Complaining about it is racist.

She broke her leg in Africa and came back to American Health Care. Obama’s Kenyan health care dreams would have saved Jackie Jackson the embarrassment because after Obama’s Kenyan health care dreams she would get exactly the same treatment here as anyone in Africa.

Death of Obama care if the politicians and "important people" are not sneakier.

This kind of special treatment sticks out like a sore thumb...and there are millions of Americans who don't like this one bit.

These people are going to have to hone their sneaky skills in order to avoid having to mingle with the rif-raf.

If the city does this for everyone, then I really don’t have a problem with it. If only for the politically connected, then I have a big problem with it. Jesse could buy a darn ambulance with all the cold cash he’s been given, so I don’t understand why he would be this stupid, unless he is that stupid. Go figure! Hope her leg heals fine so she can kick him in the a$$ when needed.

...special treatment this weekend to the wife of Rev. Jesse Jackson by assigning a city ambulance to drive her from O'Hare Airport to Northwestern Memorial Hospital

And that's how Gov. Health Care would work - some would be "more equal than others". Health care would be based on who you know - and what kind of pull you had. In short - corruption - the Chicago Way.

I have few problems with this. All The Good Rev Jesse has to do is ask the city for a bill, and pay it. End of story.

What I would be curious to know is what is the wife of this outstanding American theologian doing bouncing around a platform in Nigeria? Who paid for the trip? How many were in the entourage? To what purpose? To what benefit for the rest of us?

I also would like to have a beer with The Good Reverend and find out exactly what his take on BHO, Jr., is. Then we could talk about al-Rukyn, the gang formerly known as The Blackstone Rangers, and directed by The Good Rev. Jesse's legitimate 1/2 brother, is up to.

Folks who now find themselves an oppressed minority would do well to use The Good Rev. Jesse as a resource ..."Tips on Extortion Technique Seminars .... etc. etc.

I would like to know how much the "bill" is - probably less than a bus ride. Liberal elites use city resources like they're dealing with a private limo service.

The person I feel sorry for is the Emergency Medical worker who spilled the beans - he's probably out of a job. Liberals don't take kindly to people who stand between them and graft...

Why is Mrs. Jesse J. dropping considerable sums of money over in Nigeria? Doesn't she know you're supposed to see American first....and drop your money at struggling American businesses?

Next time you break a leg, Jackie, do it in America first.

Jackie Jackson gets special treatment (Mrs. Jesse Jackson)

"Do I really have to say it?"

'SERIES', this special treatment she received is nothing 'special'. You can't believe what the Police and Fire are *asked* to do now.

I've been listening to Chicago Police calls over an Internet scanner for the past few weeks (covers the entire city) and the calls they get are head shaking compared to 'the olden days'.

Now they get 'Wellness calls' and the Cops have to go see if granny is okay.

Or a call like last week: Granny wanted to go visit her grandson, BUT, was afraid to go alone so she wanted the Police to Give Her A Ride! And they DID. A squad car was assigned to do it!

But the 'beat it all' call was one from this past weekend:
A car broke down on a Chicago expressway and when the Cops arrived to help, one of the passengers was disabled in some way and asked to be driven somewhere. But the Cop needed advice from a Sergeant first - as the ride was to ... Rockford, IL! The answer was a short and loud, "NO!"

I can see the Wellness Calls as an old person living alone in Chicago now is just another target for the scumbags. But the "I Need A Ride" carp is head shaking dumb.
