Carbon Dioxide irrelevant in climate debate says MIT Scientist
Examiner.com ^ | 8-18-2009 | Dianna Cotter

Posted on 08/18/2009 7:46:39 AM PDT by Danae

In a study sure to ruffle the feathers of the Global Warming cabal, Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT has published a paper which proves that IPCC models are overstating by 6 times, the relevance of CO2 in Earth’s Atmosphere. Dr. Lindzen has found that heat is radiated out in to space at a far higher rate than any modeling system to date can account for.

Editorial: The science is in. the scare is out. Recent papers and data give a complete picture of why the UN is wrong.

The pdf file located at the link above from the Science and Public Policy Institute has absolutely, convincingly, and irrefutably proven the theory of Anthropogenic Global Warming to be completely false.

Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT’s peer reviewed work states “we now know that the effect of CO2 on temperature is small, we know why it is small, and we know that it is having very little effect on the climate.”

"The global surface temperature record, which we update and publish every month, has shown no statistically-significant “global warming” for almost 15 years. Statistically-significant global cooling has now persisted for very nearly eight years. Even a strong el Nino – expected in the coming months – will be unlikely to reverse the cooling trend.

More significantly, the ARGO bathythermographs deployed throughout the world’s oceans since 2003 show that the top 400 fathoms of the oceans, where it is agreed between all parties that at least 80% of all heat caused by man made “global warming” must accumulate, have been cooling over the past six years. That now prolonged ocean cooling is fatal to the “official” theory that “global warming” will happen on anything other than a minute scale." - SPPI

The link is great. The data are just devastating to the alarmists.

'Course, they still won't give up. Way too much money at stake, besides the chance they can seize control of the economy.

I heard Lindzen on a local (Boston) radio talk show. He was great!

One thing he said was that, as far as he can see, though some scientists jump on the AGW bandwagon, it's interesting that they only seem to really accept the garbage in other people's fields -- in their own fields, they stick to the facts.

From the article:

Either way, the world has been the victim of some very bad science. The results of which can be seen in drastically reduced GDP in countries with the Cap and Trade laws in place, as well a a 5 - 10% decrease in standard of living for those citizens living there (Taxing Carbon designed to fail.), all with little or no effect on emissions globally.
(Emphasis mine)

But those crazies up at MIT don't know nuthin' bout no numbers or science, do they????

or....

Water vapor constitutes Earth’s most significant greenhouse gas, accounting for about 95% of Earth’s greenhouse effect (4). Interestingly, many ‘facts and figures’ regarding global warming completely ignore the powerful effects of water vapor in the greenhouse system, carelessly (perhaps, deliberately) overstating human impacts as much as 20-fold.

Water vapor is 99.999% of natural origin. Other atmospheric greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and miscellaneous other gases (CFC’s, etc.), are also mostly of natural origin (except for the latter, which is mostly anthropogenic).

Human activities contribute slightly to greenhouse gas concentrations through farming, manufacturing, power generation, and transportation. However, these emissions are so dwarfed in comparison to emissions from natural sources we can do nothing about, that even the most costly efforts to limit human emissions would have a very small— perhaps undetectable— effect on global climate.

Yep. If the earth were going to go through an uncontrolled green house temperature, it would have done so a few billion years ago. 71% of the earth is water, and all the green house gas needed is right there in the Oceans. The Earth clearly has not gone through an uncontrolled green house event, as is demonstrated by the simple fact we still have an atmosphere!

But the tin-foil hat wearing greenies aren’t interested in the truth, they are interested in power.

So lets take it from them eh? :)

“The Enron boys had the carbon credit scam down way before Wall St and Goldman Suchs figured out that you could con people into buying air which cost nothing and results in 100% profit”

Interesting connections. I first came across an inkling of the same when learning a little about credit default swaps. The linkage was between highly educated math majors (in this case Cambridge and MIT women) who had cut their teeth in the financial world in credit trading schemes for oxides of sulphur and nitrogen post acid rain. Refinements of this experience were sold (albeit reluctantly as the story was told) to JP Morgan Chase as a means to enhance liquidity by shifting risk (on the books) to CDS’s, which essentially became a betting game, which we now know was a risky one indeed.

This only further demonstrates the success of the Cash for Clunkers program. Apparently, destroying working vehicles and giving away more taxpayer money which has been collected yet worked so well that it seems to have produced retroactive climate stability.

In other words, the AlGorist analysis of this information will result in a new chart that displays a positive relationship between increased deficit spending and decreased global temperatures.

In math class they teach kids distance = rate X time. That rate is speed (or velocity if direction is included). But acceleration is a rate, as well. As is the rate of change of acceleration. In fact there are all kinds of rates in science and engineering that are not speed. Such as degrees per century. ;-)

Be careful with old Dr. Pepper.

Under Obamacare, that simple freedom you enjoy today will count as both a visit to a specialist and as 12oz (monthly ration) of medicine - not to mention an unnecessary release of CO2.

And spitting him out on the keyboard, according to page #823 of the house bill, is considered a rude request for a second opinion and will not sit well with the death panel.

I’d report this incident to WhiteHouse.gov, but I don’t want to admit any involvement with you for fear of being deemed “obsolete” myself as in the old Twilight Zone episode where Burgess Meredith appeared before an Obama-like death panel. When hard core Obamites describe “end-of-life counseling”, it sounds suspiciously similar to what Burgess went through. The gov’t was very compassionate on the show - it generously let him choose his mode of death.

When my turn comes, I hope to go out with style like Burgess. Instead of flailing and begging for mercy at his televised execution as they had hoped, he died while calmly reading his long since banned book - the Bible.

I am not doubting that they will... but just you watch... it will be in specific areas, and not globally. And NOAA is going to have a hard time ignoring the Ocean temps and the ERBE measurements. I am betting they delay the report then release it unannounced 2 months later late on a friday night before a Holiday.

Wanna bet? LOL

This is going to get exponentially harder to ignore. WOO HOO!

A little info on inversions:

“Sedlar, Joseph; Tjernström, Michael
Boundary-Layer Meteorology, Online First
Data collected during July and August from the Arctic Ocean Experiment 2001 illustrated a common occurrence of specific-humidity (q) inversions, where moisture increases with height, coinciding with temperature inversions in the central Arctic boundary layer and lower troposphere. Low-level stratiform clouds and their relationship to temperature inversions are examined using radiosonde data and data from a suite of remote sensing instrumentation. Two low-level cloud regimes are identified: the canonical case of stratiform clouds, where the cloud tops are capped by the temperature inversion base (CCI—Clouds Capped by Inversion) and clouds where the cloud tops were found well inside the inversion (CII—Clouds Inside Inversion). The latter case was found to occur more than twice as frequently than the former. The characteristic of the temperature inversion is shown to have an influence on the cloud regime that was supported. Statistical analyses of the cloud regimes using remote sensing instruments suggest that CCI cases tend to be dominated by single-phase liquid cloud droplets; radiative cooling at the cloud top limits the vertical extent of such clouds to the inversion base height. The CII cases, on the other hand, display characteristics that can be divided into two situations—(1) clouds that only slightly penetrate the temperature inversion and exhibit a microphysical signal similar to CCI cases, or (2) clouds that extend higher into the inversion and show evidence of a mixed-phase cloud structure. An important interplay between the mixed-phase structure and an increased potential for turbulent mixing across the inversion base appears to support the lifetime of CII cases existing within the inversion layer.”

“DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

July's high reading was concentrated in the East Antarctic, some 7-8 full degrees in areas where there are no thermometer records easily accessible.

"DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT"

I hope my earlier statement about Burgess dying "while calmly reading his long since banned book - the Bible" did not give the false impression that I'm taking Obamacare passively.

Actually, in the Twilight Zone episode Burgess tricks the head Statist into begging for mercy from God (a weakness punishable by death) on live TV. Thus getting him to condemn himself to also being declared "obsolete" and killed. Burgess demonstrated the calmness of faith. But he also took that Obama-like bastard with him - and that guy was not even AARP age yet.
