KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Trial is under way in Knoxville for the first of four people charged in the kidnapping, rape and killing of a young couple more than two years ago.
As court convened Monday, the judge read each of the 38 counts against 26-year-old Letalvis Cobbins. His attorney, Scott Green, responded by entering pleas.
Green said his client pleaded guilty to five counts of facilitating robbery or theft in the carjacking that set the crimes into motion in 2007. He also pleaded guilty to one count of rape. To the remaining counts, Green responded "not guilty."
Cobbins — of Lebanon, Ky. — is also charged with murder and kidnapping in the killings of 23-year-old Christopher Newsom and his 21-year-old girlfriend Channon Christian.
When Christopher Newsom's bound, shot and burned body was identified the day after he was killed in 2007, authorities warned his mother the sight would be too gruesome for her to see.

Immediate execution for all involved, PERIOD. This was a crime in which torture, sadism, rape, and ultimately murder were done without regard. These people are dogs, animals, vicious scum. They can serve no purpose. You give a mad dog a bullet because there’s nothing else that can be done. Do the same thing here.
Try them and then drag them into the street and string them up by the neck until they are dead. Then put a bullet through their brains. Then pour gas on them and burn them. Then bulldoze them into a sewerhole. Then send their remains to their momma.
The question is - are the people who are pushing this injustice INTENTIONALLY inciting a race war? Or are they simply trying to keep the racial tension high in order to keep their own gravytrain running?
If these animals don’t get the death penalty there is no hope for this country.

According to news reports, Christian and Newsom had gone on a date at a local restaurant on Saturday, January 6, 2007, but did not return home. During their night out, the couple was “hijacked, bound and blindfolded and taken back to Lemaricus Devall ‘Slim’ Davidson’s rented house on Chipman Street.”[4]
Christian’s parents found her abandoned Toyota 4-Runner two blocks away from the Chipman Street house the following Monday with the help of her mobile phone provider. An envelope recovered from the vehicle yielded fingerprint evidence that led police to Lemaricus Davidson and 2316 Chipman Street. When police went to the address on Tuesday, January 9, they found the home unoccupied and Christian’s body in a trash can in the kitchen.
According to the testimony of the Knox County Acting Medical Examiner Dr. Darinka Mileusnic-Polchan at the subsequent trial of Eric Boyd, Newsom was repeatedly raped and then blindfolded, gagged, arms and feet bound and his head covered. Barefoot, he was either led or dragged outside the house to a set of nearby railroad tracks. He was shot in the back of the head, the neck, and the back, and his body then set on fire. Christian’s death would come only after hours of sexual torture, medical examiner Mileusnic-Polchan testified. Christian suffered horrific injuries to her vagina, anus and mouth. She was not only raped but savaged with “an object,” possibly a broken chair leg, the doctor testified. She was beaten in the head. Some type of chemical was poured down her throat, and her body, including her bleeding and battered genital area, likely scrubbed with the same solution - all while Christian was alive, the forensic expert said. She was then “hog-tied,” with curtains and strips of bedding, her face covered tightly with a small trash bag and her body stashed inside five large trash bags before being placed inside a large trash can and covered with sheets. Christian died slowly, suffocating, the medical examiner said.[5]
Execution is too good for them. They deserve worse.

I would guess that the lawyers held up the case for their own purposes.
I think we have to examine the Brown Shirt Media's dereliction on a number of issues, race being just one. They ignored murders in Nebraska or Kansas a few years back as well. Two (IIRC) "African-Americans" sodomized and murdered 4 kids (again IIRC one or two guys and 2 or 3 girls). One of the kids was shot in the head and lived to testify but I don't remember the outcome of the trial. The Brown Shirt Media did a coomplete blackout on that one as well.
These are not people but savages them and their families need removed from the gene pool before there are more of this spawn around.
The test of whether it should be treated as a hate crime would be to present the evidence to a prosecutor with the races reversed.
Google their names and read what those animals did to these two kids. You will be nauseated.

Remember the prosecutor said that these accused perpetrators knew and interacted with white folk so there wasn’t any reason to call this a hate crime.
All crimes are hate crimes.
But besides that, if I am ever going to be the victim of a "carjacking", I will accelerate my vehicle into the nearest sturdy object as quickly as possible. I will train my family to do the same. If I survive the impact and I am physically able, I will retrieve my tire iron and I will beat the perpetrator(s) into such a bloody pulp that they are racially unrecognizable.
The last time Knox County brought a jury from Davidson County to decide a murder case was the 1999 trial of Thomas “Zoo Man” Huskey, who claimed a split personality and an alter ego killed four women. The jury failed to reach a verdict after four days of deliberation. A mistrial was declared and the confession later thrown out on appeal.
Based on this information, they will walk.

No, they won’t walk because the defendant on trial has already plead guilty to robbery, sodomy, and rape. I think I heard that one of the others copped a deal with the DA to testify against the others if he didn’t get the death penalty. I’ll look.

As per the previous trial under similar circumstances. I’m not, in any way, hoping it happens, but the history in that area points elsewhere. If it comes out differently, please let me know!

Yep, if they ever get in the care with you, drive along calmly about 40 mph and then suddenly swerve into an embankment or overpass piling. They will become a human projectile and (hopefully) be killed on impact.

The prosecutor is named “Takishia”. Any guess why she didn’t want to pursue a hate crime indictment?
“Carjackings that go terribly awry” typically end in a bullet to the head in some open field somewhere, or perhaps a rape if the victim is female and the perp(s) are male. They don’t usually end up with the male being anally raped, beaten, tied up, shot three times, and having his body turned. They don’t usually end up with the female being “savaged” anally, vaginally, and orally, scrubbed down with caustic chemicals, beaten, mutilated, and left to suffocate while stuffed into a trash can.
I have no idea if this was racially based or not. All I do know is that four people capable of doing something like this don’t deserve to draw another breath on this earth. The only justice they deserve is a bullet in the back of the head.

I happen to think ALL crimes like this are hate crimes & in a weird way, for anyone to try to peg this as a racial 'hate crime' actually trivializes the unvarnished evil this perp committed against those 2 innocent people.
I think the latter is true for sure. But in doing so, they risk race war. They will ride that train until it comes to race war and then some will jump off and the rest will keep on chuggin'.
This is perhaps the hate crime of all hate crimes. But the government controlled media won’t touch it.
Reverse the races of the perpetrators and victims and CNN, PMS-NBC, etc. etc. would be nonstop on this day after day.

I would never be so callous as to ascribe stupidity to or question the motives of people who have been victimized so cruelly and yet have simply expressed their beliefs about the matter.
Good grief. Everybody here seems to want to blame me merely for being the messenger of the parents' own opinion as was reiterated in the OP article.
If you wish to denigrate the intelligence of these kids' parents because they refuse to leap to the same conclusions which you might choose to without any evidence available to support it, you're welcome to do so, but I won't particpate.
Knoxville is a liberal cesspool in the otherwise conservative East Tennessee. It is probably due to the UT campus, but I find the place so disgusting that I never stop when driving through on the Interstates.
