As far as I know it is the President of the US that has to be a natural born citizen according to the Constitution. I don’t think it is required for a Congressman. So Matthews argument is spurious as usual for the bombastic fool.

Don't underestimate what the extreme anti Bush crowd accomplished. They gained media legitimacy and framed Bush without so much as a fight. Not fighting back was one of Roves biggest regrets.

My instincts are that this is what the Democrats want: to define the right as a bunch of kooks that hate the president

Republicans and independents haven't drunk the Obama Kool-Aid.

Asking for proof that a president is natural born is a sensible question and **easily** resolved by obama with a mere nod of the head.

Spending millions of dollars in attorney time, fight the release of vital records all the way to the Supreme Court, rescinding an officer's orders...now that is NUTZ!

The nutty one here is Obama!

By the way, Obama **himself** claims that his father was a British and Kenyan citizen. It is rational for citizen to ask clarification of the matter from our courts.

The Left likes to use the newspaper announcements as irrefutable "proof" that he is a natural-born citizen. What they're ignoring is that the issue is not necessarily where Obama was born, but rather to whom. He could've been born right next to the Liberty Bell, but this would be immaterial if one or both of the parents owe allegiance to some other foreign country. A person born to a father who has a double allegiance, or who is not a citizen of the U.S., is not a natural-born citizen, period. The fact that Hawaiian newspapers announce his birth means nothing. Place of birth does not define nor control citizenship -- and it certainly does not define natural-born citizenship.

Snopes attempts to explain this away by stating that "these [parental] qualifications...are moot because they refer to someone born outside the United States." From every analysis of the Framers' documents and 14th Amendment that I have read, this is false. The qualifications apply regardless of birthplace.

Snopes further claims that since the 14th Amendment states that "all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States," then that means that since Obama was born in Hawaii, then he is a natural-born citizen. Nope. Simply being a citizen of the United States is not the same as being a natural-born citizen.

Of course, an actual birth certificate would clear all of that up in an instant. So why is Obama spending millions to avoid producing this and other personal documents? Because he has something to hide, that's why. People don't spend millions to stonewall the release of something that wouldn't hurt them at all if it were released.

Putting together all of the timelines, I’m inclined to go with the Canadian birth. Birth was too close to her enrollment in college in WA. Wish someone up in that area would do some digging.

Wnd had hired an investigator in Hawaii..and they didn’t bother to look in the Polk directory last year????
Now all of a sudden they find that Toots was living the good Professor’s house. Where was the Professor?

All we need is that smoking gun about newborns not being allowed to fly from Hawaii..and it should be enough to get some people thinking about this whole thing.

But I don’t trust WND..so that rule might not even be true.

Not if she has a note from the hospital that information on the birth has been sent to the AM embassy for registration. Many young children traveled on their parents passport at that time.
