Kanawha-Charleston Health Department Sanatarians made several visits to the bar throughout the night.

CHARLESTON W.Va.-- One year later -- and still going strong -- allowing smokers to light up inside the Blackhawk Saloon.

Wednesday, the Blackhawk Saloon held it's second annual smoker's night inside the bar.

The establishment has been allowing smoking inside since the county wide clean indoor air regualtion went into effect last year.

Owner Kerry Ellison says taking away smoking means taking away his business.

"I'm in the beer selling business," he said. "If you come in and you want to smoke a cigarette while you drink your beer and I tell you you can't smoke your cigarette and you go elsewhere and buy your beer, now that effects me."

Health officials did stop out to the bar *several* times throughout the night, and slapped Ellison with more citations.

He still has another pending in court.

Oh watch the video! The woman from the Kanawha-Charleston health department is complaining about smoking ruining the lungs, when people are in a bar drinking beer like it was water. OOOOOHHHHH the irony!

sure...sell crack or chickhawk kids if that will increase beer sales. After all regulations don’t matter if you oppose them.

That’s what makes me laugh too Morgana. Bars are not health
salons. You don’t go there to partake of healthy activities.

You know....I am against smoking in restaurants...and other places where children might be present...but a bar...do what you want....there are no kids there so smoke all you want.

Can I say it??? Oh please? This woman is a dumba$$! There, I said it!

Your right Morgana. If you own a bar and decide to allow
smoking, it should be your right. If you don’t like smoking,
then don’t go patronize or look for a job in the establishment.

So don’t go into the gay bar if you’re not into it.

My husband and I do not smoke and like the smoke free environment in bars in CA now. However, I actually wish the anti-smoking law had not passed. It was devastating to the sports bar that we liked to go to and play trivia. Their huge parking lot used to be packed on Saturday night and the bar was full of happy people. Now, it’s an anemic crowd except maybe for the Lakers’ championship games. Nonsmokers like us just don’t go out often enough and spend enough to sustain the profitability. The place has changed ownership several times, and the decor has gone from fancy to bare bones. That law killed a little community, in a sense. It’s really too bad.

I hate smoke nazis...most are lefties but not all

some even here...

no i don’t smoke but they are never satisfied....can’t even smoke outside in many places

you can see how totalitarianism takes hold by watching how easily smoke nazis usurp the rights of those pell mell at places they could have avoided if they didn’t like smoke

i grew upm when you smoke anywhere but church or while pumping gas and nobody got all hot and bothered

folks minded their own business then too and didn’t run their mouths so much and expect the world to accomodate them

I hate people who pimp addiction to kids. Not all of them are smokers, but all of them turn a blind eye to the children addicted every day.

none of that diatribe has anything to do with legal aged folks having places to smoke and eat and drink and have a good time where non smokers can choose not to go if like you they get so hot and bothered over it

the state took that choice away

i don’t think anyone thinks forcing any bad habits of any sort on kids is noble whther cigs or big gulps or gang life

let just line up the whole culture that exploits the degradation of youth and hang them from lamposts..as a father of five I know I’ll feel better’

let’s start with MTV and work our way down.

Well said. As an ex smoker (50 years) I do not like the politically correct nannies taking away the choice of bar patrons. I say if you want to frequent a bar that allows smoking, that is your choice; just as it is your choice not to patronize the place.
I am wondering just where in hell these people are coming from who are able to get these ordinances and laws put into effect that restrict our freedom of choice.

I know, all those alcohol commercials on the tv and bars and restaurants with alcohol signs in their windows - enticing our youth to drink. There are even places that sell alcohol that you can take out and drink unsupervised - liquor stores- with advertised sales signs in pretty colors.

There ought to be a law./sarc for everyone-but you...
