Glenn Beck Off This Week: Vacation or Something More?

I tend not to buy this, since August is typically vacation month for radio and TV personalities.

Last week Glenn was promoting a big series for this week. He didn’t look too good. I almost think his vacation is health related. He was getting pretty wound up. I hardly think FOX would succomb to those goons complaining about him but I guess they could. Truth hurts, folks.

Beck said last week that he’d be on vacation this week but would be back next week with material he’s been working on for some time. Sounded intriguing, and he didn’t sound like he’s backing off one bit.

He’s pulling in more viewers than anyone on cable except Hannity and O’Reilly right now, and he’s nipping at their heels. This, in an afternoon — not primetime — time slot.

FOX would be foolish to mess with him, and I’m not buying it. Sounds like jealous rumors to me.

Supposedly he was ‘threatened’ a couple of weeks ago (or something to do with a family member).....but he didn’t elaborate....and I’ve not heard anything since.

He is taking off of his radio show this week as well. Wouldn’t it make sense for him to appear on his radio show (especially if he is under contract to do so) if the TV was forced? I seem to recall him interviewed by either Cavuto or BOR and he said that there was no pressure on him about his TV show - or the content therein. He did say that he was “tying up some loose ends” this week and will “reveal” all and connect the dots when he returns next week. He stated he didn’t want to dump it last week and not be present to respond to the anticipated response. Perhaps it is just show business schtick?

That said, you know full well that Beck is getting threats. Nobody does the kind of truth-telling he’s doing without paying a price. He’s got to be under tremendous personal stress.

He alluded to voice generated threats during his troop tour that freaked him out. I get a sense the left may have threatened to go after more than just himself.

IHMO this is a vacation because of stress. I knew a businessman that when he got to wound up, his wife would schedule 3 or 4 days away at an island in the Caribbean and not tell him until the last minute and throw him on a plane. No phones etc no stress.

I get a sense what he will talk about next week will really put him in the sights of the Obama Admin. Therefor, he is resting and "sharping the saw" if you will before he has to start swinging at the tree, to use the lumberman analogy.

Didn't he have a vacation this summer? The Left is already saying FNC is trying to chill him out. I don't think he is the type to run and hide, especially with the ratings he has.

When we were on St. Martin, I was struck by how many people worked, had cars, and houses. We walked around day and night and went to two night clubs. Haitians were coming there because of employment opportunities. Also, try St. Barts which is pricier.

He had that one caller last week. The lady that got recorded at a townhall asking a question. Later she got threatened, strangers calling her house, etc. Glenn was real, real sympathetic towards her.

Beck's vacation

Contradicting a report just now on TVNewser that Fox sources say Glenn Beck has been knocked off the air for a week in response to pressure from advertisers, an aide to Beck, Matt Hiltzik, emails with evidence that, contrary to what's apparently the company's spin, Beck isn't being punished, but is rather off on a planned vacation.

Hiltzik forwarded a July 14 internal email from Christopher Balfe, the president of Beck's production company, stating that Beck will be off "the week of August 17."

Hiltzik noted that Beck is also off the radio this week.

The full email -- which seems to show that the boycott has yet to take an effect on Beck -- is after the jump.

A few years ago while driving around this fine country we came across the Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park.
Drove in near sunset and WOW. NO one there and GODs walking there.
Also about 35 years ago during a drought I used to go camping during the winter in Sequoia National. No one around forever.
Here I go scuba diving or sailing and it too is GODs country.
Conservative Indian huh? Man you are a minority.
Hawaii, only state I’ve not visited, hoping to someday sail there.

I have been to St Kitts, Nevis, Puerto Rico and Jamaica. So, no I have not been to St Martin or Paradise Island. I have heard very bad stories from other previously British controlled islands.

If I ever go there again I will take one of the cruses so I don't have to stay on the islands at night.
