What Ted Kennedy Wants
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 08-20-09 | The Wall Street Journal Editorfial Staff

He's trying to change election rules—again.

Senator Ted Kennedy, who is gravely ill with brain cancer, has sent a letter to Massachusetts lawmakers requesting a change in the state law that determines how his Senate seat would be filled if it became vacant before his eighth full term ends in 2012. Current law mandates that a special election be held at least 145 days after the seat becomes available. Mr. Kennedy is concerned that such a delay could leave his fellow Democrats in the Senate one vote short of a filibuster-proof majority for months while a special election takes place.

I was thinking, is Ted seeing some polls which might indicate that the rats might lose the seat if a special election is held? If the rats in Mass begin considering this, then I would assume that polling data is showing big problems, even in this blue state.

This ‘man’ hasn't been compos mentis for some time - his aides have been running the ship. Just what the voters ignored - policy created and sworn to by a bunch of lefty un-elected aides.

If Kennedy had done the responsible thing and resigned his Senate seat as soon as his cancer was diagnosed, this wouldn’t be an issue now. Just like Clinton, he should have departed when ethics dictated it was time to go. But Democrats think ethics are something only Republicans have and only that so they can be exploited for political purposes.

If karma really does exist, he shouldn’t die of cancer—he should drown in his own bedpan.

If Kennedy had done the responsible thing .....

It is unbelievable that all these elderly (and some of them senile) senators and congresspeople would rather die in office than do the right thing by resigning or at least grooming and promoting a successor. This one failing, above all else, shows their lack of character, selfishness, and complete disregard for the people they are supposed to represent.
