The letter that follows takes us on a darkly imagined excursion into the future. A military coup has taken place in the United States--the year is 2012--and General Thomas E. T. Brutus, Commander-in-Chief of the Unified Armed Forces of the United States, now occupies the White House as permanent Military Plenipotentiary. His position has been ratified by a national referendum, though scattered disorders still prevail and arrests for acts of sedition are underway. A senior retired officer of the Unified Armed Forces, known here simply as Prisoner 222305759, is one of those arrested, having been convicted by court-martial for opposing the coup. Prior to his execution, he is able to smuggle out of prison a letter to an old War College classmate discussing the "Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012." In it, he argues that the coup was the outgrowth of trends visible as far back as 1992. These trends were the massive diversion of military forces to civilian uses, the monolithic unification of the armed forces, and the insularity of the military community. His letter survives and is here presented verbatim.

We do not really disagree - it just the method and means bit - you say ballot box, I say civil war. I prefer your way, but I just do not see those people going quietly into the night of oblivion.
Maybe I missed something in the reading, but the passage “disheartening was the wretched performance of our forces in the Second Gulf War” was the dead give away that this is some liberal drivel.

It would be far more to the point were this journal to outline the far more possible assembly of a US constitutional convention. The US military would be essential in protecting that convention from interference by foreign intelligence and lobbyist operations, and attacks from fanatics and terrorists.
Even so, US military personnel would not be permitted into the perimeter surrounding the convention, nor would any other federal officer. Instead, were the convention to be held in Texas, a likely location, each individual State would be asked to send 2 delegates with a platoon of 30 “adult individuals of good character” as their security. A total of 1500 Americans who would guard the convention within the perimeter.
Outside the perimeter would be directly guarded by the Texas State Police and the Texas Rangers, but not the National Guard. Outside of their area, the US military would protect and defend the convention against those who would interfere with it.
All involved would be sworn to uphold and defend the convention. And the convention would have to be seated until 3/4ths of the individual States have voted in favor of the new constitution, and those changes carried out. Any federal officer who refused to obey the convention’s directives could be removed from officer after that, with a simple majority vote.
Once this was done, as a final act, the convention would sit in judgment of anyone who attempted to inappropriately interfere, monitor, or otherwise influence the convention. The judgment of these trials could not be appealed.

There was a book awhile ago called “Silent Coup”. Written by a couple of investigative reporter-types about the Watergate thing. That was one facet of the book. It had lots of documentation, etc. Lots of in-fighting between the military and Nixon’s State Department, etc.

WE have about 3 million in our military...spread out across the world.
‘just as strong’? That would give an average of 60,000 of his private force in every state. - over and above out guard, our troopers, sheriffs and police.
There can be only one reason for such a ‘force’...to control US.
WE can't natter on about throwing the rats out in 2010 - it will far too late. We have to keep up the public outcry - ramp it up. And email, call and FAX your reps over and over. They count up the number of such - and they are concerned, more than anything, about their own political butts. If they get buried in emails, call and FAXes and they keep coming , they'll back off.
Put it on your to=do list - do it once a day ...and google for the times and places of your states Tea Parties - the media will start covering them - they see the obaminations poll #’s slipping bad = and like all rats, when the going gets tough, they turn on one another.
