The Obama White House is behind a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert Sept. 11 into a day of leftist celebration and statist idolatry.
This effort to reshape the American psyche has nothing to do with healing the nation and everything to do with easing the nation along in the ongoing radical transformation of America that President Obama promised during last year's election campaign. The president signed into law a measure in April that designated Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service, but it's not likely many lawmakers thought this meant that day was going to be turned into a celebration of ethanol, carbon emission controls, and radical community organizing.
The administration's plans were outlined in an Aug. 11 White House-sponsored teleconference call run by Obama ally Lennox Yearwood, president of the Hip Hop Caucus, and Liv Havstad, the group's senior vice president of strategic partnerships and programs.
Yearwood, who uses the honorific "Reverend" before his name, has been in the news in recent years, usually for getting arrested. After Democrats took back Congress, the rowdy activist was handcuffed outside a congressional hearing in September 2007 when Gen. David Petraeus was to testify. Yearwood told the "Democracy Now" radio program that he wanted to attend the hearing to hear Petraeus give his report. "I knew that when officers lie, soldiers die," he said.

Martin Luther King Day in January has, in recent years, been designated as an unofficial “day of service.” Why not just stick with that?

To make 9/11 about "Repowering America" or "Greening Up America" implies that the 9/11 attacks were perpetrated by terrorists because we were insufficiently "Repowered" or "Greened Up".

What better way to remove the tarnish on his religion and his brethren than to rewrite history and remove any references to the act perpetrated by islamofacism. We no longer are at war with the jihidies, they are not terrorists, and those in captivity in Gitmo just want to assimilate into the American way of life. Sadly, it’s accurate. I read that he’s going to give a big speech on Sept. 11 about things like Americorps and new “youth volunteer” programs.
Unfortunate, though, I think people are just going to shrug and there won’t really be any negative reaction at all, except here, of course.
Yeah, give it a few more years. Sept 11th will turn into a National day of apology and groveling to the Muslim wornd. No doubt there will be ritual conversions at the Pentagon and WTC sites.

I can understand the democrat base being asked to do something for their keep, but I think everyone else has already done more than their fair share.

Putting on my tinfoil hat (birther, Manchurian candidate tinfoil hat), think about the following:
Green is the color of Islam. In that context, the 9/11 attacks were an attempt to "green up America".
This is asinine. If we want some action related to 9/11, then that action should be about vigilance and preparedness. If we want to honor a group of people, it should be a day to recognize first responders.

The vote comes as the culmination of a three-years lobbying effort by New York Islamist groups and what supporters such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations describe as “over 80 Labor and Community Organizations.”
Eventually something like “Islamic Memorial Day.” Celebrating Allah’s departed heroes.

McCain (whom I do indeed dislike as many know) lays a wreath with gentle respect with a military demeanor; Obama just throws his down from a distance with an unceremonial toss, much with the same cavalier, piece of sh*t-look he had when they sung the national anthem and he was the only one on the dais not to show respect.
This guy is BAD NEWS. We know what's going on this this guy's brain. We know what he is made of. What he respects and what he disdains. And therein lies his BIG PROBLEM...he is woefully out of step with the United States of America.

Thank you. I will be making a trip to my local fire station (who puts up a memorial to the NY firemen, etc. every 9-11) with some token of my appreciation and a big 'thank you' to them all. We should all do the same ..... maybe the movement will grow and overshadow this other crap that just got signed into law by Obumble.
Then Republicans will need to hold their own event on or near Ground Zero soil on Sept. 11th, make it solemn and in complete remembrance of what happened 8 years ago, and DO NOT INVITE SENATOR OBAMA.

What a fool. What is it about liberals needing to remake and redefine? 9/11 has a meaning that is deeply significant for a majority of Americans. Why isn’t that enough? Why try to make it something else?
