The Wall Street Journal just published a shocking editorial written by a respected University President, confirming the Obama Administration is now using VA hospitals to order doctors to pressure all military veterans to sign "pull the plug" do-not-resuscitate orders, hastening their premature deaths through mandatory "end of life" counseling.
President Jim Towey of Saint Vincent's College, founder of the non-profit "Aging With Dignity" and former White House Director of faith based initiatives, wrote a blistering expose entitled "The Death Book For Veterans," revealing President Obama's new Veterans Administration (VA) directive, presumably signed by VA Secretary, General (ret.) Eric Shinseki, which mandates all veterans' primary care physicians must graphically discuss "end of life planning" with all VA patients (not merely those nearing death), and must refer them to "Your Life, Your Choices," a book that openly encourages Euthanasia and was written with guidance from the group formerly known as the Hemlock Society. That same pro-suicide group now boasts on their web-site of directly leading the charge to ensure "end of life counseling" is mandated in the Obamacare bill, HR 3200.
On page 21 of the Shinseki-mandated Veteran's Euthanasia book, all military veterans are encouraged to complete a checklist of various scenarios, to decide whether their own life would be "not worth living." For example, the booklet asks veterans 7 questions pressuring veterans to sign a "living will" that authorizes doctors to terminate your life, if you are:
1) Living in a nursing home?
2) Being in a wheelchair?
3) Not able to "shake the blues?"
4) Ever heard anyone say, "If I'm a vegetable, pull the plug?"
5) No longer able to contribute to your family's well-being?
6) Are you a severe financial burden to your family?
7) Do you cause severe emotional burden for your family?

But instead the Hemlock Society booklet is now MANDATED for doctor referral to all patients in all VA hospitals, heaping more evidence upon the growing list of proofs that the Obama Administration is LYING TO THE PUBLIC by denying their health care plan pushes Euthanasia on the elderly. They already do it today. Just imagine if ALL hospitals become government-run like the VA.
I posted my e-mail. Details are at the Human Events link. Veterans, Ijust want you to know, we love you and appreciate you. This is NOT what we want for all you have done to keep out country safe and free.
Here is the pdf for the “death book”:

This is horrendous!
I seem to recall that when Obama was campaigning, he complained about the medical care our veterans were receiving at Walter Reed. Bush was doing it wrong, apparently. I guess Obama’s plan is to just kill those boys off rather than mess around with that expensive “medicine” stuff.
Here’s a decent video summary:

It’s not only veterans. My 87-year-old mom was given a 10% chance to live three weeks ago and beat the odds. She was transported to a nursing home and is now back in the hospital. She’s very weak, but has her full faculties and wants to get better. When she was admitted to the hospital again yesterday, the didn’t do squat for her even though she’s in congestive heart failure. My brother went to see her and got very angry. They put her in there to die. He set about this morning to set them straight. We’ll see if they care. It’s Obamacare a little early.
Which one?
The PDF?
If that is the one it is on the Human Events site to click on as a PDF.
My mom has literally become a cripple over night. She's uncharacteristically depressed. My Dad has the beginnings of Alzheimer's. I fear for the future of the elderly - vets and no vets.
This has been given some pretty good coverage on Fox and the talk radio shows(and FR) but one thing we are not discussing that you have brought up is the DNR orders. This is just so cold and calculating it is beyond belief. Remember a few years ago, the reports that so many more soldiers were being given a second chance at life after injuries in battle because of the advancement in battlefield medicine? To normal people, this is wonderful news that so many US soldier’s lives are being saved...but to the Statist(marxist)..this is not good. The Statist(marxist) wants that money to be going to statist designs..not our military. This is the reason for the sudden push...the Obama government is getting tired of paying to save our soldier’s lives.
It is evil..plain and simple. Now they will encourage them all to sign these DNR orders and they will all die on the battlefield(saving Obama money that he can redistribute to ACORN, unions, various other leftist green organizations and the DNC machine.)Thanks for keeping this latest Obama/democrat/marxist evil front and center.
WE HAVE TO KEEP FIGHTING BACK AT THE TEA PARTIES AND TOWNHALLS!!
Thanks
I believe the White House physician slot is still open.
Anyone know where we can find Doctor Kevorkian?
If so, ask him to call 202-666-RAHM.
I will be fighting this evil and I know you and others will too.
Don’t give up!
Spread it!
“Oh I wonder, wonder who wrote the book of death,
who wrote the book of death?”
Why, it was ZERO and friends.
Euthanasists?
Another great tidbit from the talk: He and his wife had recently had a son who they named John Paul ... Towey!
One last one, from the short article, about Mother Teresa being asked at the end of her life, after shed been working fifty years with the poorest of the poor whether she got discouraged: Didnt you get discouraged Mother? she was asked. Mother Teresa responds, No, God doesnt call me to be successful; God calls me to be faithful.
He's been kissing up to our enemies and dissing our allies - I'm becoming more convinced he's a mole put in the WH to achieve a bloodless victory for islam.
Socialism could be seen just one means to that end, which may explain his marxism, imo.
ping to #16.
My mom went thought a huge depressive bout three weeks when we thought she was going to die. She didn’t want to die, but finally made peace with it and got mad when she woke up the next morning because she was still in pain. Now that she’s worked through all that emotionally, she wants to live. I hope that your mom has the chance to do the same. I think that the realization that you’re at the end of your life and physically, it’s probably never going to get better, is devastating. I wish your parents well!
It was fun to make albeit staring at Obama for so long to edit, was a chore.
I've downloaded and read this entire document. The Human Events article (and most of the other coverage about this booklet) completely misrepresent the contents. This DOES NOT even come close to advocating any of the crap folks are saying. It contains information and exercises used to help people to plan for circumstances when they may not be able to communicate themselves. End of story. I'm going to print out copies for my parents and my wife and self to fill out. If more people did so we could avoid a great deal of soul searching an heartbreak later on. Anybody remember Terri Shiavo?
Vets and active duty need to file a class action lawsuit with a good attorney demanding the BC. Hussein wants to kill vets off.
Read the document before you cinch up the tin foil.
And when not enough veterans decide to die the liberals will find new reasons to “help” them decide.
Shinseki first.
“They put her in there to die.”
Who is they?
None of this crap is the business of the federal government.
The slant of that entire booklet is to pressure the elderly Veteran to go for having the plug pulled on him...And to write a living will that reflects this. You are blind if you cannot see it. Maybe that's why the booklet was pulled when GW was president and Obama reinstated it
My father was an elderly WW2 veteran and he made out a living will which is what this booklet is a guide for. He never saw that death booklet. I was in his presence when he made out his living will and it was completed very quickly with zero pressure. Very few words were spoken. As it was he was pretty much in the "pull the plug" school but zero and I mean ZERO pressure was exerted on him.
Hospital personnel. She was taken there because of heart failure and stuck on a floor with no monitoring and almost no meals. My brother said that it was though they (medical “professional”) was just waiting for her to die.
Have your mom / mom’s doc look into a heart assistance device (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ventricular_assist_device). They may be able to extend her life with one.
How long ago was that?
None of this crap is the business of the federal government. ...............
Exactly! If you want a living will then make one out, it’s a good idea. But without US Federal Gov pressure. And that death booklet is designed to pressure and direct towards pulling the plug as soon as possible
Over my dead body.
My father made out his living will 3 years ago in the presence of a lawyer and passed onward a year later. But like I said no pressure was exerted one way or the other.
This US Gov booklet is slanted
Yes, it is. I know that people opt to make this decision, but it needs to be completely of their own freewill; it sounds like that’s how your father made the decision. That’s the right way...
Living wills are not just for those who want to have the plug pulled if they are in a bad way. You should also make your wishes known if you want to live no matter what....or something in between
Everyone with a family should make a living will. I did it about 10 years ago.

This looks like a fairly standard explanation of the need to make your wishes known and how to make sure what you want to happen, happens.
I don’t see “pressure to pull the plug” in this. There are many different opinions about what people want done when they can’t speak for themselves, and I’ve seen what happens when people don’t write it down. I’ve seen terrible arguments between family members and unnecessary guilt. Informing people of how to make sure their wishes are followed is standard in hospitals and medical care. Why shouldn’t veterans be offered such information in the course of their health care? This isn’t new - the booklet was written President Bush.
“Mistakes” like the one below might become a common occurrance in VA Hospitals under the 0b0z0 thugs:

1200 vets mistakenly told theyre dying from ALS

Just as the Obama administration tries to reassure people that the government can manage the health-care system more competently than what we have now, one of its single-payer systems demonstrates exactly what we can expect from ObamaCare. The VA mistakenly informed 1200 veterans that they have amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrigs disease, a 100% fatal condition. They blamed it on a coding error (via JWF):
At least 1,200 veterans across the country have been mistakenly told by the Veterans Administration that they suffer from a fatal neurological disease.
One of the leaders of a Gulf War veterans group says panicked veterans from Alabama, Florida, Kansas, North Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming have contacted the group about the error.
Denise Nichols, the vice president of the National Gulf War Resource Center, says the VA is blaming a coding error for the mistake.
The Obama credo for you is: doo-doo, horror, contemned
... pressuring veterans to sign a “living will” that authorizes doctors to terminate your life, if you are:
1) Living in a nursing home?
2) Being in a wheelchair?
3) Not able to “shake the blues?”
4) Ever heard anyone say, “If I’m a vegetable, pull the plug?”
5) No longer able to contribute to your family’s well-being?
6) Are you a severe financial burden to your family?
7) Do you cause severe emotional burden for your family?
PING
Thanks. I’ve told my family that if they start pulling plugs, I’m coming back to haunt them!
For example, the booklet asks veterans 7 questions pressuring veterans to sign a “living will” that authorizes doctors to terminate your life, if you are:
1) Having to constantly live in a high-stress environment with scores or armed security around you and your family?
2) Being in the chair where the buck supposedly stops?
3) Not able to “shake the blues because you've spent all your political capital in the first six months in office?”
4) Ever heard me say, “If I'm a one-termer, pull the plug?”
5) No longer able to redefine rich as $50,000 or more?
6) Are you a severe financial burden to the working families of America?
7) If my approval/disapproval goes below -14, do you wish to be resuscitated?
Now you’re talking!!
I second this:
Let’s see if we can develop a Presidential Death Book.
For example, the booklet asks veterans 7 questions pressuring veterans to sign a living will that authorizes doctors to terminate your life, if you are:
1) Having to constantly live in a high-stress environment with scores or armed security around you and your family?
2) Being in the chair where the buck supposedly stops?

6) Are you a severe financial burden to the working families of America?
7) If my approval/disapproval goes below -14, do you wish to be resuscitated?
Seems like pressure to me....
Write down your wishes and make sure many people have it...or the plug may be pulled anyway
