Cheney Statement on CIA Documents/Investigation Former Vice President Dick Cheney gave The Weekly Standard a statement Monday night about the CIA documents and the coming Justice Department investigation.
The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002. The activities of the CIA in carrying out the policies of the Bush Administration were directly responsible for defeating all efforts by al Qaeda to launch further mass casualty attacks against the United States. The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions. President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nations's security.

If I were Cheney, I think I’d play a clip of Alec Baldwin saying that the people should go drag a senator,his wife and his children out to stone them to death. And then say to the press that all of the interrogation agents did say they were “joking” which made it all right.
Democrats have to realize that people, as Rush just mentioned, are scared. Now.....
1. picture WWII when our troops were leaving the ships....they were scared.
2. Then picture them in the boats when the fronts dropped down....they were scared.
3. They left those boats and were determined to accomplish their mission.
4. Then they saw their buddys getting hurt and killed.
5. Then they got pissed.
The American people are getting pissid today. People are getting hurt. Our relatives, our neighbors, people we don’t even know.....are getting hurt. Americans are getting hurt and people are getting pissed. I’m actually getting to the point I fear for this country and what’s coming. People can only be pushed so far in this country.

Cheyney has decided to “defend the beaches.” I think it’s a good strategy since the investigators probably have Cheyney himself penciled in as a ‘target’. It would be foolish of Cheyney to remain silent.
The left has been after Cheney for years. They did falsify a case against Tom Delay, who I hope will soon be exonorated and back in the mix. We need him.

It is also about undermining national security and the good men who take an often dangerous job to assist and support the common good of US citizens. I shudder to think that BO and his minions having access to all our national security secrets. Who, outside and inside the country, is being provided every last secret necessary to secure US sovereignty and national security? We should all ponder.

Many have pointed out the CIA's lean to the left, so it's hard to be certain their official opinion of obama, Holder, etc.
But, what about the rank and file CIA types and on up that food chain who had long term working relationships with Cheney and others in the Bush administration? Where do their loyalties lie, assuming they are allowed to have them?
If a civil cold war is heating up, I would think they are on or beyond the front lines and I pray for their safety. They have kept us safe at no small sacrifice to themselves. I hope we are still worthy of their service.

This is a poorly worded statement, something like what a lawyer would come up with, and it has been attacked for that reason. It does not specifically say that the Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence, or even any significant intelligence. Many are claiming that standard interrogation procedures yielded almost all of the significant intelligence, and that very little was gained from the EHT’s themselves. Cheney should clarify this immediately.
