LOS ANGELES Software giant Microsoft Corp. is apologizing for altering a photo on its Web site to change the race of one of the people shown in the picture.
A photo on the Seattle-based company's U.S. Web site shows two men, one Asian and one black, and a white woman seated at a conference room table. But on the Web site of Microsoft's Polish business unit, the black man's head has been replaced with that of a white man. The color of his hand remains unchanged.

Screw the PC crap!
You’ve got a valid point about marketing to Poland.
But do it right! How many white people with black hands? That’s just creepy!
But to just photoshop another head in is just silly.
Fake but accurate?
It’s all about selling their product. YOU are right, how many black people are in the market in Poland. Here in Mexico, I am so AMAZED that with it’s 85% heavily mixed Ethnic Native American blood, dark skin, their highway signs are all WHITE women, blue eyes, and fair complexion.
This sells in Mexico. It may change someday when the darker people realize they are being left out..
Very often companies use the same photo or ad across geographies for consistency.
I see no problem with changing colors if it suits their markets......in fact it is common sense.
The photo editing was done on a Mac.
ROFL!
This is done all the time in advertising to special sub markets. Different colors are photoshopped in and out. The only issue here is that it was a black and it gives someone a grievance.
Hey; maybe the photo in the US is the fake one, i.e. the black head was Photoshopped onto the white body.
That’s what they should say to make it all better. The race hustlers won’t get mad if the head is on the other body, er, uh, I mean: the shoe is on the other foot.
If that’s the photoshop it is pretty crappy. Don’t they have professionals for that sort of thing?
That’s was unexpected and hilarious.
Like they edit out the black home invaders on all of those home security commercials. Funny how its always white guys breaking into homes.
Who gives a damn? Why apologize? Jeez, it’s like this ridiculous black racist hate group “Color of Change” being able to blackmail 2 dozen companies to drop Glenn Beck. If David Duke asked them to boycott someone, would they do it? C of C is no different, but from the black side. Yet look at the power they command! The world has gone insane.
Well done.
What’s wrong with having a black guy in the photo?
It’s not about PC. It’s about stupid.
Nothing wrong with the original photo.
I would have no problem with the occasional white guy in the security commercials.
But the perps are white in 100% of the commercials.
And the cops are black.
Almost as though they look at FBI statistics and do the opposite.
LOL!
Nothing wrong with it, but if they want to appeal to those in their Polish market, they are alomst 100% white. SO why not put a white guy in there?
Library User, that is the post of the day. LOL!
Not being said is how many times white people are photo shopped out of the picture(s) for the African markets.

Reality is not compatible with PC/leftist ideology.

NEW YORK (AP) - A statue based on the famous photograph of the flag-raising at the World Trade Center site is being criticized because the three white firefighters in the picture have been transformed into one white, one black and one Hispanic.
Some firefighters and their families say the 19-foot bronze is political correctness run amok and an attempt to rewrite history.
The $180,000 sculpture is expected to be erected this spring at the Fire Department's Brooklyn headquarters in tribute to the 343 firefighters killed in the attack. It is based on the Sept. 11 newspaper photo of firefighters raising the American flag on about 20 feet of rubble.
The decision to represent different races was made by the Fire Department, the makers of the statue, and the property-management company that owns the department headquarters building and commissioned the work.
``Given that those who died were of all races and all ethnicities and that the statue was to be symbolic of those sacrifices, ultimately a decision was made to honor no one in particular, but everyone who made the supreme sacrifice,'' Fire Department spokesman Frank Gribbon said.
But Tony Marden of Ladder 165 in Queens called the decision ``an insult to those three guys to put imaginary faces on that statue. It's not a racial thing. That shouldn't even be an issue.'' And Carlo Casoria, who lost his firefighter son, Thomas, said: ``They're rewriting history in order to achieve political correctness.''
Perfect. That’s the only possible compromise that will satisfy the PC folk.
hahahaha i just got all wee-weed up from laughing at that pic.
You are killing ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-O
It has nothing to do with race. They needed a picture of a man seated at a desk, and found one.
The people who claim this has anything to do with race are out of their minds.
I think even mentioning that fact is racist!
I live in an "ethnically challenged" (how's that for PC) area. When I travel to an area with much more diversity it's quite noticeable to me. I recently traveled to an area outside Chicago that could pass for "Little Mexico". I kid you not. I thought I had been dropped into Mexico by mistake. If 25 people were in a restaurant, 24 were Hispanic. I few days after I returned home I received a travel brochure from the Chamber of Commerce from this city. Not one of the subjects in the pictures selling the city was anything close to Hispanic. It could have been a travel brochure for Sweden with all the blonde and blue-eyed people.
Black guy’s head is ugly and too large for his body. It was originally photoshopped. Besides, the Anointed One is a mulatto. Anyone check his hands?
The big boiler company I worked for 35 years ago air-brushed a hippy out of a control room photo in a brochure. There were two version of the brochure - with and without hippy. And that was way before Photoshop when you had to really use an airbrush!
LOL!
Yes, but they're only allowed to use MS Paint.
Yes, I am kidding.
What was wrong with the human being who was in the photo?
Why assume that the Polish will only respond to a white face? Why not just take another picture of a human being who is tinted the right hue so as not to cause offense with the Poles? Why photoshop it?
The whole thing is stupid. With a capital S.
Stupid?
Should we use white people for the Japanese market?
People respond to those who are most like them, moreso in homogenous cultures.
(that may not be PC, but it’s the truth)
Human is human to me.
What does an American look like for example?
White, black, red, yellow. What?
Maybe for yourself it is important to see a white face. For me, a human face. It doesn’t really matter to me what colour it is. It’s difficult to imagine that this matters to people. It’s about the single stupidest criterion for sorting people I can think of (hue).
Hey, if you want a white face- more power to you (slight pun in there).

At least someone brushed the hippy.
To assume that other people aren’t as ‘enlightened’ as one’s self is also stupid. I’m pretty certain Polish people recognise people with other skin tints as being people as well. I think Japanese do too. It’s not just us special people in the US who can look equally on all people.
I am not a ‘white person’. I am a person. I am a human being. When I look at another person, I don’t think ‘White person’. ‘Black person’. I think ‘person’. Ok, maybe you’re different. It’s difficult to imagine any member of modern day homo sapiens not recognising other people as people simply because of their skin tint.
Sounds like you are going out of your way to convince me that human nature is not as it is.
People prefer to be with people like them. This applies to balck, white and on and on.
Why do many blacks go to Black universities? If all humans are the same, then there shouldn’t be black universities.
It’s not worth it. You’re right. I’m wrong. Cut the black people out of the picture. I don’t care. I now support Microsoft 100% on this issue. Why should the Poles have to look at a black person? Screw all this PC crap.
Why do many blacks go to black universities?
Why is there a Chinatown in New York? And an Italian area?
You can prefer to live in a world opposed to facts; I prefer to see life as it is.
