CIA memo details procedures for breaking detainees (AG Holder and Amnesty Int'l working for you!)

"Sleep deprivation, "insult slaps," water dousing and "walling," or slamming a detainee's head against a wall, were techniques used by CIA interrogators to break high-value detainees, according to an agency memo."

Holder decision "promises political headaches for President Barack Obama, came after the Justice Department's ethics watchdog recommended considering prosecution of CIA employees or contractors for interrogations in Iraq and Afghanistan that went beyond approved limits."

Cheney said ""The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions," he said in a statement."

The walling reportedly took place on special hollow walls that made a great slamming sound but were about as harmless as cardboard cartons.

Still waiting to see Amnesty International’s condemnation of Al Qaida for kidnapping civilians, torturing them, and then videotaping their murders for Islamic snuff videos.

The Left says that Saddam Hussein did a better job of keeping terrorism down in Iraq.

We were using methods that were far less severe and not dangerous to the captives.

Saddam WOULD rape and murder the wives of the prisoners. He WOULD cut off their hands.

The CIA ran a Halloween haunted house, not a torture chamber.

Put another catepillar on a prisoner and tell him it has a poisonous bite.

I do not personally know of one person who thinks this country is NOT spinning out of control.

I am buying all of the ammo I can.

In any SHTF scenario, it will come in handy, but will also be the new de facto currency.

The Left says that Saddam Hussein did a better job of keeping terrorism down in Iraq.

This claim was going on while Bush was still president, wasn't it? Rummy or Cheney should have come out and told them they were right and that we will immediately start reproducing Saddam's tactics.

Yes we have.

Spoke with a dad with 3 sons in various branches. A conservative that can't believe how fast it is devolving and worries about his sons.

What gets me is this...

These interrogators ans Spec-Ops guys are doing the dirty work that Holder finds repulsive that gave him the freedom to be the leftist thug he has become.

What Gauls me, their is probably a spec-op snipper wallowing in his own piss for 3 days as we speak to play wack-a-mole with a bad guy they they have been waiting to get into his sites.

Holder doesn't deserve to polish that soldiers boots....

They also said that Truman ended WWII in less time than it was taking Bush to end the war in Iraq.

They wouldn’t let President Bush drop a couple of atomic bombs.

Apples and oranges.

Waaaayyyyy out of control!

Someone is going to die because of Obama, et al, and their stupid political decisions. You can bet there is no one left in the CIA who is going to put their neck out if this is what happens to them for their effort!

We should be thanking the CIA instead of trying to prosecute them! I don't give a crap what they do to TERRORISTS! They don't care what they do to us!

I guarantee you that the geniuses in Obama’s circle wouldn't have a problem with his perceived political enemies being treated the way these TERRORISTS were treated! We just can't do the same thing to freaking terrorists who want to KILL US!!!

But, not the first one had his head lopped off, did they? Holder and the Zero administration are putting our country perilously close to being attacked again. Cheney is quite correct to describe our country as being less safe under the Zero administration.

And when America IS attacked again (whether it is one of our ships, one of our embassies, or continental US land; all are US territory), President Barack will surely blame it on the residual legacy of the Bush Doctrine.

Some were high echelon subjects like that. Others were like the grenade-tosser that Obama sent back home recently. In both cases the point was to get them to talk, we never had vengeance or punishment on our minds.

The grenade tosser wasn’t a suspect. He was guilty.

And only 3 people were waterboarded. Something the media doesn’t tell the public.

The Sheik was one of them.

I think this will backfire on them. The American public know that the CIA was trying to protect them and they won’t stand by and see them thrown to the wolves.
Do they think we won’t demonstrate against this? Plus pack any court room..become the jury?

The point is they weren’t suspected terrorists.

The questioning was to find out what they knew.

This wasn’t to “build a case for prosecution” against them. This was to build information and gather intelligence.

The Left’s core problem with McCarthyism is NOT that innocent people were caught up (can they name names of those who were wrongly punished?), it was that they saw no harm in being a Communist even if your organization WAS being manipulated by agents of the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War.

CIA has done nothing wrong and in the end most people will understand that.

But the short term payoff of all this is that, in order to defend itself, CIA has to reveal its interrogation methods and philosophy, and it has to reveal the exact limits it places on itself.

This is read by Al Qaeda, Iranian intel, Chinese intel, everyone. And terrorists are coached by their leaders exactly how to behave if they are captured and exactly what to expect from the interrogator.

One of the main things an interrogator has going for him is the fact that prisoner is fearful and doesn’t know what is happening to him. He is in psychological free-fall and his interrogator is his life-line.

Exposing the details of the interrogator’s art does tremendous damage. This is by design. These people are a menace.

The CIA has a license to kill.

If they can’t even fire off a gun (blank) in the neighboring room to spook a detainee, then they have no “right” to kill the enemy either.

I do see an upside to this although word will NOT get back to the Arab Street.

There were probably rumors in the terrorist underground that detainees were tortured (REAL torture), their families were tortured (not just telling the detainee that their families were in jeopardy, HELL'S BELLS the Clinton team did that to those who spoke out against the Clinton administration), and there were probably rumors that a prisoner here or there had "heard" other prisoners being shot (recall that some detainees were released only to find them going back to jihad and killing themselves in suicide bombings).

The smoke and mirrors of the investigations have been revealed. The terrorist cells will breathe a sigh of relief that we won't use those methods, but the common Islamist on the street probably won't get the "snopes" expose of the rumors.

We need to be seeding the Arab media to let them KNOW that we did not authorize rape and murder, unlike Saddam and his dead sons.

Right, I was just adding my own point.

I don’t see how James Bond can be a popular box office draw anymore since the world reportedly “hates” such tactics, even if they come with government authorization in the interest of national security.

Again the bulk of the ACLU’s case is about what was done to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. HE was the major figure waterboard. HIS was the family he was told would be killed.

HE was the one who sang like a canary.

Clinton’s people threatened snitches. “Saw your kids today, they were wearing...” “How’s your cat? Dead? My my.” “Tires slashed? How could THAT have happened?”

Did you notice that several of the supposed “abuses” were committed by a guy pretending to be from a middle-eastern intel agency. He was believable in his threats because of it. The prisoners knew an American wouldn’t do those things, but they believed he would.

I read the book written by the army interrogator in Afghanistan. Early on they could get results by hinting that the prisoner was being sent to the Saudis or the Egyptians. Later they decided that this ruse was illegal and they stopped doing it. But it was very effective. The moment they thought they were going to the Saudis they would start singing.

By the way, the agent who fired his gun in the neighboring room was investigated and he resigned over the matter. There was more review and there was no further prosecution.

It was in violation of the rules (even though it had only psychological effects on the prisoner).

Our government was harsher on David Koresh in using a tank to root up graves of the Branch Davidians, playing “These Boots Are Made For Walking (all over YOU)” at deafening volumes, and using other psy ops (they had the building bugged, they knew he could be driven to suicide).

Who ever saw prison time of their actions in that fiasco?

"Sleep deprivation, "insult slaps," water dousing and "walling," or slamming a detainee's head against a wall, were techniques used by CIA interrogators to break high-value detainees, according to an agency memo."

Show the memo then. Is there an actual CIA-approved term called, "walling"? Or is that just a term prefaced by, "Some agents call the technique "walling" when they slam a detainees head against a wall?" Or "One agent referred to it as "walling." Or even worse, "One detainee called it "walling."

Since the memo's contents have been leaked we now have a right to actually see the memos with the appropriate redactions in place.
