The Tamar gas field, 50 miles off the Haifa coast, keeps getting bigger with every report, and the gas discovery now is estimated to be the worlds largest in 18 months. The Scotland-based Wood Mackenzie research and consulting firm assessed the value of the field at $8 billion, approximately double that of local analysts.
The latest upside projection comes less than two weeks after another revised estimate that the reserves are 16 percent higher than previously thought.
Changing gas prices could make the gas worth anywhere between $3.5-$17 billion in the future, and partners in the offshore project are preparing for the first deliveries of gas in 2012.

Israel can’t develop this field... or so Obama will say. We can only accept Arab energy.
Bad news for the Peak Oil crowd.
Sounds like the Joel Rosenberg novel coming true...again...
Noble Energy (field’s operator) in their press release claims it to be 5 TCFG. Hardly the largest in the world but not a bad piece of business.
Finally a kosher supply of natural gas! ;-)

Exactly...some pretty rich spoils there.
Cool. Hope the Israeli economy can grow even stronger, proving that they are the Middle East’s bright hope and demonstrating once again that the Arabs and Muslims, with all their natural resources, are worthless when it comes to economic growth and the well-being of their citizens.
Let the Arabs eat and pound sand..
The only way to cook those Hebrew National Hot dogs don’tchaknow!

Significant, yet small relative to the reserves Israel returned to Egypt in the Sinai.

Manna from you-know-who. The sons of Ishmael don’t have all the gas after all. How about that? Torah 2009. Stay tuned for further updates.
This comes of holding millions peaceful Palestinians under the water after stuffing them with undercooked navy beans. That gas has been stolen! It is ours by right of flatulence!
Egypt hasn’t done anything with that.
Directional oil drilling: Go down. Go east.
I hope Israel tells BHO to “sit on it and rotate”...
