I wonder what Hillary might do? She’s clearly a figurehead at State. If she were to resign also, Obama would be in a world of sh-, politically.
Remember, for every cabinet post holder or or high administative appointed post, Obama has a shadow czar....and between the twenty-or-so of them they set the ultimate, definitive policies.
Look for other resignations, including Secretary of Understate Hitlery. Panetta can't be the only administration official who didn't expect tovarich czars coming out of nowhere undercutting their hoped-for policy relationships with the Annointed One.

I don’t care what his politics are, Panetta wouldn’t have wanted that job in the context of a morale-busting and disruptive Bolshevist witch hunt.
