Obama Healthcare Plan Advisor: It’s not a DEATH PANEL, but a “GOD COMMITTEE”

"You can't avoid these questions," Dr. Emanuel said in an Aug. 16 Washington Post interview. "We had a big controversy in the United States when there was a limited number of dialysis machines. In Seattle, they appointed what they called a 'God committee' to choose who should get it, and that committee was eventually abandoned. Society ended up paying the whole bill for dialysis instead of having people make those decisions."

Dr. Emanuel argues that to make such decisions, the focus cannot be only on the worth of the individual. He proposes adding the communitarian perspective to ensure that medical resources will be allocated in a way that keeps society going: "Substantively, it suggests services that promote the continuation of the polity—those that ensure healthy future generations, ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations—are to be socially guaranteed as basic. Covering services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic, and should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia." (Hastings Center Report, November-December, 1996)

Dr Emanuel is Rahm Emanuel's brother & when asked directly by the Washington Press Corps if Dr Emanuel had provided advice on healthcare plans to the Admin, Press Secretary Gibbs repeatedly said yes.

This is all going to get worse. they all tried the liberal bag of tricks, like calling all those who disagree racists for one, that has worked in the past on the average news reporter or republican but is not working on average Americans.

Having tried all the old tricks that failed they are going to get more and more shrill

Allow me to translate: “Community organizers, and their fellow travelers, will receive all the health care they require. Right-wing nut cases will get the pain killer.

At the same time is she aware that neither her, nor her boys, would be selected for medical care if I were on the committee.

First to go Fur Shur!

Agree. The wizard of oz ( obama ) has been discovered to be a mere mortal, and his attack dogs don’t realize he has been exposed, and his outright attempt to deceive all of us is coming across loud and clear.

I’m waiting for Palin to take these quotes and use them to do to Obama and the Dems what she does to a moose.

Zeke cannot discern the difference between hospitals, doctors, insurance companies, families and patients working out the allocation of resources on a limited and local basis and a “Death Panel” filled with political hacks such as himself deciding who gets what in the entire country.

He is also intellectually dishonest. Using one example, dialysis machines when they first came out, as a model for what should be done as a matter of policy across the board when there is no need for such measures is evil.

IMHO, the whole death panel thing is discriminatory against the elderly and those with disabilities. And Obamacare itself discrinimates against many by excluding some groups (Gov’t workers, unions, etc.) from the bill.

Yesterday I heard Rabbi Daniel Lapin on KSFO, he made the strong case the people are hard-wired to believe in something, anything.

Specifically he said that Atheists had every bit as much faith as the religious, that for people it was just a question of whether they worshiped a large "G" God or a small "g" god (i.e. God or government).

Large "G" worshipers freely give their time and money to their church, and resent high taxes.

Small "g" worshipers think that taxes should be sky-high, and can't fathom why anyone would give money to a church.

Both expect that their "G" will take care of their needs, the small "g" worshipers want the same arrangement that a cow has:

The farmer:
arranges who breeds with who
pays for the insemination
delivers the calf
provides the fodder
builds the barn
owns the cow's very body

All the cow has to do is "give" the farmer 100% of her milk.

And when she can't do that anymore, the farmer has the absolute right to turn her into hamburger, leather and tallow.

Pretty much the definition of slavery, isn't it?

Yet that's precisely the relationship they crave with the small "g" god -government- they want us all to be forced to worship.

Here's a question to ask these people at health care public forums and other settings as well. If health care is a right, as they proclaim, how can they countenance panels the limit the health care someone can get? If it is a right then it can't be rationed can it? How do they reconcile rationing a right?

We know it isn't a right but these people talk out of both sides of their faces and need to be called on it, you can say something is a right and then turn right around and say you are going to limit it to only certain people.
