Tax hikes coming for Californians anyway

Californians must have thought they’d sent a loud and clear message to Sacramento in May when they rejected a series of referendums that would have approved tax hikes to solve their budget crisis. The only ballot initiative approved cut off legislators’ pay when they failed to produce a budget, in what should have been a sign that the Golden State electorate had had enough. The political class in the state capital apparently has their fingers stuck firmly in their ears:

Unfortunately they are. Don’t think that the massive Mexican scoffing at American immigration “law” has gone unnoticed by the rest of the world. The Mexican illegals get most of the publicity out here due to sheer numbers but they are hardly the only ethnic group adding to the immigration/illegal immigration burden. It’s legal immigrants, usually professionals, who know how to game the system to get their elderly relatives on SSI.

There have to be entire villages from Asia, India, and the middle east that are here illegally. In my part of SoCal there are many highly successful immigrants with nice little homes of 10,000 sq feet or more who bring their friends and family over on visitors visas, and they simply never go home. They move out on their own and start little enclaves. You can find work, go to school, get medical care, and thrive without anyone ever bothering you. And most of the time American and California taxpayers are being required to finance this scheme. I’d just like to thank Dubya and Obama and the rest of the open borders politicians for refusing to enforce our laws, it’s made California such a paradise. /s

I feel stupid, in that my original sarcasm I was actually complimenting the work ethic of Asian immigrants.

Officials said the latest adjustments have been triggered by inflation, or rather the lack of it. This year, the state’s inflation index was a negative number for the first time since 1983. When the economy takes a deep plunge, so do tax brackets.

The dishonesty and arrogance is so thick in the air you could cut it with a chainsaw. Do brackets go UP when the state's inflation index is a positive number? When the economy soars, do tax brackets?

Right. That's what I thought.

The biggest problem I have with stories like this one is that names are not named. I don't care what some "officials" say - - I want the NAMES of the lying sacks of dog feces.

That’s why we passed Proposition 13 back in the 70s. Property values doubled and therefore so did taxes. Elderly people on fixed incomes were literally forced to sell their homes because they couldn’t afford their taxes. Now, of course, there is a move to repeal Prop 13, which ought to finish off what is left of California.
