Oakland Group Spearheading Glenn Beck Boycott
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 8/28/09 | Chip Johnson

Posted on 08/28/2009 11:56:09 AM PDT by nickcarraway

Fox News commentator Glenn Beck acted stupidly when he went on a TV talk show last month and called President Obama a racist.

Oh, boy. I've gone and done it now. Using the now infamous Beck Standard for Racist Speech, with that statement I have just crossed the line and revealed my own deep-seated hatred for white people.

Chalk it up to that wacky mixed-race blood that courses through my veins, and the president's.

Fortunately, I have some local backup on this one, because the group that launched a nationwide movement to strip the network host of his advertisers - and ultimately - his Fox Network soapbox - has its roots in Oakland.

So far, ColorOfChange.org, a political organization founded in Oakland to provide a political voice for African American Hurricane Katrina survivors, has racked up an impressive list of companies that have joined the boycott. Among the many giants on the list are AT&T, Campbell's Soup Co. and Procter & Gamble.

At least three dozen corporations have pulled advertisements from Beck's show since the group began its efforts within days of Beck's infamous statements about Obama made during a guest appearance on another Fox talk show July 28.

"This president, I think, has exposed himself as a guy, over and over and over again, who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture, I don't know what it is," Beck said.

When Fox co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out that most of the staffers Obama has hired are white, Beck kept going.

"I'm not saying he doesn't like white people, I'm saying he has a problem. ... This guy, I believe, is a racist," he added.

OOOOrrrrrr those sponsors found a way to cut commercial expeditures Orrrrr they were cutting costs anyways and were able to find what they THOUGHT was a PR bonus instead they found a PR suicide.

Someone needs to show these advertisers the red blue map of america.

Here's the letter I sent Chip Johnson, author of this brain dead sh*t.

Hi Chipster,
In a recent article about Glen Beck's advertisers being blackmailed, you said this in response to Glen's assertion that Prez Zer0bama is a racist:
"Where Beck's evidence is to support such a claim about the president is anybody's guess."

Let me help you out here. President Obama's own autobiography, in his own words, unbidden and candidly offered, details that among his earliest and most powerful influences was his "mentor," Frank Marshall Davis. An avowed Black Liberation Theology racist and communist.

Zer0 goes on to say how moved he was by the quote from Malcom X about wishing he could expunge the "white blood" from within his veins.

He frequented a church for over 20 years, and had nothing but accolades for its deeply racial White America deriding pastor, himself a disciple of Black Liberation Theology, who teaches that the Bible demands retribution against Whites because "Jesus was a po' black man!"

More recently President Zer0bama called his grandmother, "...a typical White woman (who would cross the street if she saw a Black man coming)." Oh, yeah. That's what typical White people do. All the time, right?

Most recently, Zer0 was asked about the Professer Gates incident (Gatesgate). Zer0 replied that, while he didn't know all the facts, the (white) police had "acted stupidly." Let me rephrase for him so you get it:

"I wasn't there, but from what I know about White Policemen, there is little doubt that they were doing their lawful duty."

Now, ask again, with a straight face... "Where on earth would Glen Beck get the idea that Zer0bama is racist?

Tell me you're not that completely stupid. Tell me that you, yourself, are a racist blinded by your prejudice from seeing what't right in front of you, just as plain as black and white. No, wait. Never mind.

You already told us that.

Yours,

Gargantua (America's Conscience)

“46 sponsors have pulled from the show. Ratings mean nothing when there is no $$$ from sponsors”.

...FNC has said that the advertisers are simply running on other shows without any decrease in income to FOX. Beck helps the network’s credibility and would be insane to pull Beck with his ratings.

There’s no lost revenue. FOX time shifted the ads and put in house ads on Beck. It’s prime space to promote their own shows.
Look for the PMSNBCs and CNNs of the cable world to suffer most, these adverts are going to avoid their talk shows as well in all likelyhood. THEY will hurt more as a result (smaller audiences and all).

The "Law of unintended consequences" in action once again.

Only ONE way to deal with anti-American product hucksters! AT&T, eh? Well don’t I just LOVE Verizon?! Can you hear me NOW? Campbell’s Soup Co.? You don’t say?! More Progresso soup, Mom! More Progresso soup, please. And, oh my; Proctor & Gamble. There are only about 50 companies out there to replace THEM!

IMHO, all 3 of them have terminal cases of STUPIDITY!

Good God America,

For every dim witted facist commie run organization isn’t there a a dozen honest to goodness REAL American companies.

How about FORD, built Ford Tough. Obviously FOX is not worried about the money, yet. So why not bring in some decent companies for advertising.

There is also a Clorox plant near Aberdeen, MD. And sadly, once their new plant is up and running, it will be a York County, PA company, as well. While I am happy for the locals in these places who will find employment there; it’s a doggone shame that so many of these large corporations are run by individuals who seem to be educated beyond their intelligence; and who long-since have cast away any last shred of patriotism. GE, NBC, MSNBC et al being sparkling examples! IMHO

“NEW YORK More advertisers have pulled out of Fox News’ Glenn Beck Program, bringing the tally to 46, according to the watchdog group Color of Change.”

A large number of the 46 are companies that DO NOT advertise on Beck, but said that they would not advertise in the future anyway. That’s like me saying ‘hey, I don’t even have a company, but if I did, I wouldn’t advertise on Glen Beck’s show’. Completely meaningless. Beck’s show is one hour long. Does anyone really think that 46 advertisers pulled their spots from a one hour program?????

Here are a couple of commercials on FOX for companies that supposedly do not advertise during Glenn Beck’s show.

Maybe you could prove Beck ever had 46 advertisers, then I might believe you. How many minutes would they get during a 60 minute show?

Nah. Just the blue counties.

There are plenty of conservatives in CA. They're just in the minority.

What we should be pushing for is a break-up of the state. With all the crap going on there, now would be a good time to start talking about splitting it up.

Great! I didn’t say that ALL of the 46 didn’t advertise on Becks show, I said MOST of them don’t (most of them CAN’T, since the show is only on for an hour). Pretty soon, the list will grow to 200 advertisers that boycott Beck! Make it 500!! And, as I’m sure you know, the advertisers who left Beck’s show still advertise on FOX, so FOX still gets the advertising $$$. Since the boycott started, Beck’s ratings have gone up 25%. He’s going to survive this nonsense, and he’s going to be just fine.

Those videos were of two companies that FOX claimed were not advertising during Glenn Beck.

Some of the advertisers didn’t want to replace the ones that had already jumped ship.

‘Some of the advertisers didn’t want to replace the ones that had already jumped ship.’

And Beck will be just fine. Someone who draws 2.5-3 million viewers in a 5PM EST time slot isn’t going anywhere.

That does it.

For years, the concern that certain small groups were intent on converting the USA into another "banana republic," or the first large scale successful representative democratic system in history to be converted into another genocidal African despotism was, well--- conservative hyperbole.

No more. There is no longer the danger that this might be possible.

It's already happened.

Give it a rest, troll. It's clowns like you which remind me that it would be great for FR to provide us with a real "ignore" button, which would make your propaganda truly invisible.

You carefully avoided the reasonable question: how could a one-hour show lose 46 advertisers?

Stupid is as stupid does.

“for years, the concern that certain small groups were intent on converting the USA into another “banana republic,””

I had a Radical Black Panther cousin of my buddy’s explain this to me one night, several years ago, at my buddy’s bachelor party.

(BARF ALERT!)

Rev. Farakhan has told them that when anarchy finally rules in America, Blacks, used to being brutalized, and being brutal, will rise to the top and put the boot on the white man’s neck. And blacks in government jobs is training for the day when they will rule.

His words, not mine...
