Interesing confluence of events. New York Times article came out today about CDC scientists brought out the same flu virus that killed many in the early 1900's and played around with it.

The military's bio weapons research lab has been engaged to "work" on this vaccine.

The military has been tasked with potentially inoculating the population.

The president's chief benefactor owns the largest share in the drug company that produces the vaccine.

Yes they will. Saw someone did the math on the flawed 1976 flu vaccine which killed a couple dozen people. Even with that bad batch, the odds were better taking it than risking the normal 0.1% mortality. By a factor of 25.

All flu has a "death rate" of one degree or the other. Vaccines generally have a LOWER "death rate".

If the vaccines are distribured widely and the general population, including those who aren't vaccinated, don't get the disease, and it's all a great success, there are those who will always say "see, somebody died, you were wrong" ~ but that's only because they don't understand how math works.

I usually end up getting the regular flu every 2 or 3 years. The sickest I *ever* got was the year I got the ‘regular’ flu vaccine. That was the only time I ever wished for death.

“Goes straight to the lungs” probably means Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). This is separate from the flu itself, and can be caused by other things as well, but it is very dangerous, with a 50% death rate, with treatment. With flu, it often happens on the fifth day of symptoms.

There *may* be a way to fend it off, with a “recipe” of common Over The Counter (OTC) medicines that you should all have a store of, if the disease starts doing this as a usual thing. You *must* take all four.

ARDS is sometimes called the “cytokine storm”. It happens when your immune system overreacts to something, and attacks whatever it is in your lungs. Your own body can and will destroy your lungs, so you die of oxygen deprivation.

ARDS is caused by 150 or so chemicals in the body. The “recipe” is designed to settle down some of the critical major parts of this process, to stop the chain reaction. Again, you *must* take all four parts.

The recipe:

Benedryl. Tagamet. Ibuprofen (Advil). And 15,000 IU of Vitamin D3.

You take the maximum doses of the first three at the first sign of symptoms, along with 15,000 IU (pills are typically 1,000 IU each), of Vitamin D every day you are sick. That is the maximum 24 hour doses of the first three, plus 15 Vitamin D pills every day you are sick.

These work to hopefully prevent developing ARDS.

For the virus itself, I strongly recommend using Cold-Eeze lozenges, that have a form of zinc in them that will be uptaken easily by your sinuses, unlike other forms of zinc, that are not well absorbed. Zinc inhibits virus reproduction.

I also recommend getting and drinking as much pure cranberry juice as you can stand. Most cranberry juice is only 26% juice, so get the pure, unsweetened kind. Cranberry juice in quantity, prevents the viruses from sticking to your cells, virus adhesion. If the virus cannot stick to them, it cannot invade them. But you have to drink a LOT of cranberry juice.

Do not take the recipe until you show symptoms, for maximum effect.

I'll start. I hear the flu vaccine will cause AIDS, cancer, and halitosis. The grandchildren of those who are vaccinated will be born with an extra head that looks like Groucho Marx. Additionally, the vaccine isn't actually a dead virus. It's battery acid mixed with autism.

They raise lots and lots of pigs there. Just discussing with friends today the use of domesticated pigs in New Guinea and elsewhere in that part of the world to provide a safe source of meat. There are some great films/documentaries of life there that focus on the part played by the hogs (they eat left over gardens, root out the roots that need rooted out) and get fat).

This personal report is off topic for Swine Flu, but I wanted to let some fellow Freepers know of my situation.

8-4-09 I was laid off from a job that I have had for over 6 years. I have been busy applying for a new job of course, and I thought I had one in the bag, but it seems that it isn’t going to come through.

Do we have a ping list regarding unemployment issues?

I applied, in person for a job that was posted today on Craigs List, Phoenix area and I kid you not they must have had a stack of applicants today that was at least an inch thick. (They required applicants to apply at their location.) It was just posted today and at 5 I finished my application and had the opportunity to see it placed in a stack with the other applicants. (It was for an administrative assistant position with a long term care facility.)

I am worried...this is the first time in my life that I have been “let go” from a position. (The company I worked for laid me off because they are struggling and not getting enough work to keep the bills paid.)

Is that the maximum dose recommended on the package for the OTC stuff?

That would be 50 mg Bandaryl, ? on the Tagament, 200 on the Ibuprofen.

Does Zantac work instead of Tagament?
