A poster mentioned something on a previous thread that needs exploration.
Why not drill and mine federal lands and use the profits to clean the national debts. There must be billions or even trillions in Alaska, the Gulf, and on other federal lands. We could clean up our debts and become solvent and not put us into default.
End cap and trade and cut great deals with differnt companies. Oil, natural gas, timber, mining rights. There is a lot here. Why not use it?

Federal lands are not to be exploited for simple greed. They are protected natural resources that must be preserved for future generations. That’s why the government has them. That and to keep actual citizens from owning them. Imagine.

Wrong. The goal of the left is to bring the United States to it's knees by any means possible. One of the easiest and most effective ways to do this is to break our economy. The uncontrolled spending is specifically designed to create a crisis which will remove all private capital and default the means of production into government hands.
I understand your point, but those in power have no interest in using our natural resources to enrich our country. They want us broke. They have no intention of paying back the trillions in debt we have now, nor fulfilling the hundreds of trillions of dollars in unfunded mandates they are pushing upon us.
They aren't very fond of private property rights either, thus their ongoing quest to designate greater and greater areas of our country as 'protected' or 'preserves' or 'refuges.'

did anyone catch the story on FOX news about soldiers dragging their feet about taking detainees because they know they wont be prosecuted or held????

It always has been. We surely knew that we would not be importing cheap oil when they decided not to allow any new nuclear plants to be built. We put up with gas lines at the same time watching our heating/cooling costs quadruple. And I contend that there is a group that wants us to be slaves - or at least beggars.
The last I heard this country was made up of individuals that elected people to represent them. No matter how you get there drilling in federal lands does not and will not have the support of the majority of the people. End of silly thread.

I think that if this is presented as a wayout of crushing debt, a way to help the country get on track, a way to provide real jobs, not service sector and government jobs, the country will go for it. We have abilities and means.
The point is that locking away our resources and bankrupting our country with debt would serve the same end. Why do something to stop it or slow it down?

I agree and I think that arguments need to be made to the peole directly. That we are sitting on vast wealth and need to sell some of the silver for the greater progress and savings of the country. There are no people beating the drum of doing this.
Take everyone in the Prisons and give them to the Chinese till the day they die to mine coal for the Chinese. Hate to say it, but that is the only way to pay them back for all the loans they gave us.

Economic stability is for our country and our future. We have to stop letting the left determine what gets talked about. This is something to talk about. It is time for the Family to sell the extra silver.

First thing, not everyone in prison deserves to have a life/death sentence.
The last thing the Chinese need is more labor. They need more energy. And we have plenty and the companies that can mine them. We have timber and natural gas, and the ability to have nuclear power plants everywhere. Energy is wealth for all.

I concur, my son-in-law, 3 times in Iraq has orders for Afghanistan this January. He’s a lifer, going on 9 years now, and especially pray for our military during this current CIC, our military needs it more now than ever.

The healtcare kersnuffle is a nothing. The reality is that it can be backburnered as an unaffordable alternative and first we have to pay our bills and get ourcountry to work.
