Joyce Carol Oates: How does one woman’s life compare to decades of awesome Senate service?
Hot Air ^ | August 28, 2009 | Allahpundit

Somehow, the fact that she recognizes Chappaquiddick as “unconscionable, despicable, unmanly and inexplicable” only makes it worse. It’s come to this: Yet, ironically, following this nadir in his life/ career, Ted Kennedy seemed to have genuinely refashioned himself as a serious, idealistic, tirelessly energetic liberal Democrat in the mold of 1960s/1970s American liberalism, arguably the greatest Democratic senator of the 20th century. His tireless advocacy of civil rights, rights for disabled Americans, health care, voting reform, his courageous vote against the Iraq war (when numerous Democrats including Hillary Clinton voted for it) suggest that there are not only “second acts” in American lives, but that the Renaissance concept of the “fortunate fall” may be relevant here: one “falls” as Adam and Eve “fell”; one sins and repents and is forgiven, provided that one remakes one’s life… Yet if one weighs the life of a single young woman against the accomplishments of the man President Obama has called the greatest Democratic senator in history, what is one to think?

The two don’t compare well if the woman is a horrible excuse of a writer like you, Oates, and if the Senator actually defends the Constitution.

If the writer is a weak poser such as you, Oates, and a drunken murder like Kennedy, I suppose the two leave pretty much the same behind.

Nothing worth while but damage to the roles they were supposed to serve.

Using this same line of reasoning, had Hitler succeeded in creating a “Master Race”, would that have justified the Holocaust?

Proof that O has his head is his ass......

Edward M. Kennedy was not only a poor excuse of a man but he was also a stepping stone to socialism in the United States of America.

As Mark Twain said, 'I didn't attend the funeral but I approved of it'.......

When posed a variation of this question: "If Stalin actually did create the "workers' paradise" he promised, would it justify the millions of deaths he caused? Many liberals will answer "yes" (and have).

The Left is a death cult, and no pile of bullsh*t social welfare fig leaves can hide that fact.

More proof that liberalism is a mental disease.

The piece on Huffington Post, concluding with...

Who knows — maybe she'd feel it was worth it.

...was a window into the liberal mind.

The replies that followed it were even more revealing view of the pathology of the left.

They are possessed of one highly developed mental skill: rationalization.

“Ted Kennedy seemed to have genuinely refashioned himself...”

Yeah; he “refashioned himself” all right. He became as degenerate as a man can possibly get. He did nothing with any redeeming value.

What does Mary Jo’s family have to say on the matter? How do they feel that Kennedy’s friend, Klein, said that Teddy’s favorite jokes were Chappaquiddick jokes? The man makes me want to puke.

From her bio:

Oates won a scholarship to attend Syracuse University, where she joined Phi Mu

Isn’t that the one they call “Phi Moo”?

“Ed Klein, said that Teddy’s favorite jokes were Chappaquiddick jokes”.
I can’t for the life of me think of anything more sick than the thought of Ted the “swimmer” laughing at anything concerning the death of Mary Jo Kopechne at Chappaquiddick.

One is to think Ted Kennedy was a hyper-partisan demagogue who skirted the law with inherited wealth and a family name. He committed treason by colluding with the Soviets against Ronald Reagan. He betrayed his faith by supporting the barbaric practice of infanticide. He hypocritically supported environmentalism while fighting windmills that would devalue his real estate.

He was a drunk. He was a commie. He was the worst of America.

Although Oates considers herself a feminist, “Her tragic and violent plots abound with incidents of rape, incest, murder, mutilation, child abuse, and suicide, and her protagonists often suffer as a result of the conditions of their social milieu or their emotional weaknesses. This is especially true of her female characters, who are portrayed as dysfunctional, passive, and vulnerable to exploitation and abuse in a male-dominated society. For this reason feminist critics consider Oates a controversial figure, because she has created few strong, independent female role models in her numerous works.” http://www.enotes.com/feminism-literature/oates-joyce-carol

So much for feminist writers and their thought processes...

Right, spot on La:

Well one is to think that its not about the one women, whom was abandoned in the flooded, pitch black, car. To struggle waiting for rescue, while this monster changed clothes and arranged his damage control.

He has gone to judgment, Mary and others will cast for his lot. I hope he has something better than damage control, greed, corruption. Life is surely fleeting for us all. Hell is for ever.

"..Fidelity to a personal code of morality would seem to fade in significance as the public sphere, like an enormous sun, blinds us to all else..."

The above theory holds only for the depraved or a writer long past her prime.

The good Kennedy did did not cost him anything. If it did cost, if it involved sacrifice be sure Teddy would punt.
