Only this Breaking News header on the King 5 news site, thus far:
"Shooting - Rapid shots have been fired at North Seattle Community College in the Northgate area of Seattle; I-5 southbound near college has been shut down.
WTF?
PING for the list.
BTTT
breaking news.
one of my alma maters.
Golly, isn’t that a GUN FREE ZONE?
Whoever fired that weapon is in SOOOO MUCH TROUBLE!
I live here in the Northgate area, and there are multiple police helicopters zooming about overhead right now.
BTTT
Is there a town hall meeting going on in the college?
Nothing on Google news....
Woah... KONG is showing massive backups on I-5. They’ve got it closed down both ways.
Not that I know of, at any rate.
Seems like nobody really knows what’s going on. Somebody said they heard gun fire, and the cops are cordoning off a huge area. But they don’t know where the shots came from.
nasty! That one’s gonna hurt. Both ways on a Friday night. Can’t imagine those downtown heading north for home. OUCH!
No worries. Mayor Dickless will ban all firearms in Seattle. IT will be real safe then.
Rapid shots?
It’s late there right? What time would it be? 10:30? The sniper keyword made me think of the maryland sniper shootings..
A report of shots fired near North Seattle Community College has prompted authorities to close down all lanes of Interstate 5 in the Northgate area.
Seattle police spokeswoman Renee Witt said the report came in shortly before 10 p.m. Friday. There were no reports of injuries.
Seattle police responded to the area. Witt said they were being assisted by the Washington State Patrol.
KING-TV reports that southbound lanes were closed initially, and then the entire freeway was shut down. One resident who phoned KING said he heard what sounded like “fireworks.”
I took some classes there back in the day and lived in Seattle as recently as 2007. I hope that it’s nothing too serious.
They just said on KONG that the reports were of shots being fired onto or across I-5, in the vicinity of the college.
Southbound Interstate 5 is closed near Northgate in Seattle.
Residents near North 92nd Street reported hearing gunfire before police officers converged on the neighborhood, ordering residents outside to return to their homes.
Seattle Police requested the freeway be shutdown shortly before 10 p.m. after reports that someone may have been on the loose in the area with a rifle. The State Patrol closed the southbound lanes to traffic.
Police were focusing on a wooded area near North Seattle Community College, on the west side of the freeway.
A helicopter is guiding officers on the ground in the search for a possible suspect.
An interstate sniper...?
That was my first thought as wel: “Rapid shots”??
Some chucklehead’s way of trying to say, “automatic gunfire”, maybe?
The KING 5 headline is what it is.
Maybe its fireworks from the the Mariners finally winning a Friday night game.
Yup.

Said there were 15 to 20 shots fired. Looking for two suspects wearing backpacks.
Also at KOMO it’s possible to listen to police and fire scanner live, but I didn’t allow add-on to listen.
I hope you’re trapped in a safe place.
Safe at home (a secured building), with both wife and faithful hound, thank goodness. ;)
Gang warfare?
Rapid shots have been fired at North Seattle Community College
Rapid shots?
Perhaps rapid as compared with those subsonic rounds?
;-)
I’m watching it live on the news. Both North and South lanes of I-5 shut down. The news knows very little at this time.
Good! What kind of hound? (I’m a dog lover)
Just brought up the scanner.

Half-black Lab, half-Chow. All moron, but with a loving personality and infinite heart. ;)
They have a suspect. Suspect name is Blake. Has an AK-47.
"Have" as in "have in custody," or "have" as in "have identified"...?
Thank you Jet Jaguar for the ping.
“Also at KOMO its possible to listen to police and fire scanner live,”
Do they still have police radio scanners? My dad had them back in the 1970s but I’m not sure if they work this day and age with more modern and private communication between officers.
Is anyone injured?
A suspect is in custody. Still looking for another, named Blake, white male, about 33.
Don’t know.

SNIPPET: “Focusing on a wooded area near North Seattle Community College, police were pursuing at least one suspect. A second possible suspect was seen running across the freeway. At about 10:45, one suspect was seen with his hands in the air, according to transmissions on police radio channels. He apparently told police the other suspect had an AK-47.The freeway is closed between Lake City Way and 145th Street, according to The State Patrol.”
Don’t know. Just saw the link for it there.
Yah, they're still around. Sometimes police/fire use encrypted comms, but sometimes not. Tonight they seem to be talking about this stuff in the clear.
Wonder what info they were given to come up with a suspect.
Oh, great. :(
Q13 News is talking to one guy who called police who said it sounded like a CO2 gun or BB gun. He said it did not sound like a hand gun.
