My FIL was born in 1944 Germany, premature (2-3 months). His mom took him to the hospital where they said it was not worth the resources to help him since there was so little chance he would survive anyway. They were sent home. Luckily, she didn’t give up. He just turned 65 this past June.
Wow! That is an incredible story.
My youngest brother was 2 and a half months premature when he was born. The doctors didn’t think he would live and thought that if he did he would be small and weak his whole life. By the time he was a senior in high school he was a nationally ranked cross-country track runner, he went into the Army after college and completed Ranger school (though he was never able to be a Ranger due to a subsequent injury).
