'Tea Party Express' Takes Protests Cross-Country (NPR, but OK)

Conservative political activists associated with the so-called "Tea Party" protests have started a cross-country bus convoy dubbed the Tea Party Express. They plan to stop in 33 cities.

Tea Party Express organizer Mark Williams, also a conservative talk show host, said there is a lot of dissatisfaction in the country right now focused on issues from health care reform to the national debt.

"We figured it's about time for somebody to run to the front of the parade and say, 'Follow me,' and to try and herd all these cats into a semi-coherent message," Williams said.

The Tea Party Express is scheduled to conclude Sept. 12 with a rally in Washington, D.C

I’m going to be in Las Vegas on Monday....Coming in from Bullhead City. Then I’m off to Washington and will be in Washington on September 12th. How can I not?

National media not picking it up for major play but some of the locals are covering the events when they are in their area.

I hope so and I love the enthusiasm and I hope the turnout is hugh and series. But I can’t shake the thought that the presence of Dick Armey and Steve Forbes so prominently connected with this, that we will be hard put to defend the charge of astroturfing. Already Armey. Forbes, and several other guys as rich as Forbes have been identified with FreedomWorks. That’s not what April 15th was about. Nor should 9/12.

Anyone going to the Scranton PA or Toms River NJ stop???? If you are going ping me. I’m in the middle of both stops and I’d love to attend either one.

I will be in DC on the 12th. We have a group of NW NJ Patriots who rented a bus...I can’t wait!
