Members and citizens supporting the Republican Party rallied against the Obama administration outside the Texas Capitol Saturday afternoon.
The Texas State Sovereignty or Secessions movement is backed by those who think the federal government is getting too involved in state and local government affairs.
One of the options they're considering is seceding from the United States.
"They're coming together to talk about the option of sovereignty, to rally support for state sovereignty, to encourage our state leadership, to exercise the sovereignty that Texas ought to be standing on," Republican Gubernatorial Candidate, Debra Medina, said.
Medina said another way to allow state leaders to get around federal laws is to nullify and interpose laws coming from Washington
Let me know if they need any help. I’m ready to leave too. Texas...lead. Please.
Scary times we live in.
Although I'm sure the GOP would love to take the credit, unfortunatley they just don't deserve it.
I’m wondering, if Texas seceeds, what will the Feds do? Cut off the money, sure, but war like last time?
Don’t mess with Texas.
Last two times when the government became too oppressive, my family went with the secessionists. I’ll go with my genetic tendencies again. I was reared in Texas and if it starts again I’ll go with Texas.
Stop talking about it and put it in motion, for real. You want to really get everyone’s attention, put it in motion for real.
The secession of a state (or several) might be enough of a shock to bring this whole Constitutional crisis to a head safely. Then again, we don’t know how the federal government will react to a secession bid (think Fort Sumter) so bloodshed cannot be ruled out completely. I will surely be an interesting event!
But something drastic MUST be done and it must be a STATE action. We just need a state government with enough huevos to make a stand. GO TEXAS!!
Can't the media be honest for a change? Republicans have nothing to do with this, and they're the target of our ire as well.
I think that this is one of the best vehicles to break up this federal monopoly. Frankly, any group of people really doesn’t scare the feds. A state, OTOH, expecially one like TX seceding, is a real, scary thing.
Now, to make the threat real, the state would have to make plans to financially incent companies to continue to stay there, when it is clear that the feds will PUNISH any company/individual that doesn’t try to punish TX.
This can be done, but it requires a LOT more thought that just screaming “we’re outta here!”
For the Last Time, Texas cannot secede from the Union!!!
Besides, If we could, what the freakin’ hell are we gonna do with all the generations of welfare people? Make them work? LO freakin L!!!!! Got any ideas Einstein? Would you care to guess how many loafers we are talking about?????????????

Yes, think more like UN troops from China and Russia to put down the insurrection.
American troops would have second thoughts about firing on American citizens.
Russians and Chinese won’t.
Can’t the media be honest for a change? Republicans have nothing to do with this, and they’re the target of our ire as well.

Hear, hear. As a Conservative.....I’m feelin’ MIGHTY disenfranchised by the Rebubs at the mo.
Wasn’t there something in the idea of Texas becoming a State that they could leave any time they wanted?
Simple, send them to the border with bus tickets to Massachusetts.
Sign ME up.
For secession, not sovereignty.
I think more states than Texas would go.
And wouldn’t Texas love to do it against the Russians and Chinese!
Thousands of Texans poured into the capitol and other major cities across the state on Saturday to demand that their elected officials immediately deliver an ultimatum to Washington: “sovereignty or secession.”
With the federal government rampantly violating their 10th Amendment rights like never before, refusing to defend their borders, and bankrupting this country with backwards leftist insanity, many Texans feel they need to draw a line in the sand.
Armed with a statewide petition to that effect, they called on their leaders to follow through on state sovereignty legislation passed earlier this year by sweeping margins. Overwhelmingly, the response from state officials has been supportive.
> And wouldnt Texas love to do it against the Russians and Chinese!
Good luck with that.
Close air support, attack helicopters, tanks, artillery, carpet bombing, and the Russians and Chinese won’t be working with their hands tied, like the Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Neither will they be tried for war crimes or torture.
There will be no holds barred.
Great idea. I’m in.
Texas... it’s like a whole ‘nuther country.
Not scary at all. Challenging, and exhilarating!
Very rare times like these to actually have a voice and hand in the preservation and/or restoration of the Constitution should not be cowered from in fear!
If Texas secedes,I’m moving to Texas!
I don’t think they’ll try it again. They did once back in the 1860s and came back. Too many now sucking at the gov’t teat to pull the plug a second time, imo.
.....Cut off the money......
It would be interesting to learn the net cash flow. Do more tax $$ flow out of Texas than return?
Considering the mega deficits, will it change to a mega out flow to say Michigan. Are Texas taxpayers supporting the rape in Michigan by the UAW?
I’m willing to die for the freedom of my family in a free Republic of Texas.
>>Close air support, attack helicopters, tanks, artillery, carpet bombing, and the Russians and Chinese wont be working with their hands tied, like the Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan.<<
Yes, all of that workrd SOOOO well for the Russians in Afghanistan. Folks, I’ve said this over and over. This country is too big to be governed. There MUST be a separation. It can be done peacably; with plenty of forethought and preparation. OR it can be done with lots of bloodshed and everybody loses. Either way we will be separated.
Given that man does not learn from his mistakes, my guess is that it will be a long battle, deadly and bloody.
Deo vindice
“I dont think theyll try it again. They did once back in the 1860s and came back. Too many now sucking at the govt teat to pull the plug a second time, imo.”
I wouldn’t bet agaisnt Texas.
The individualism here really sparks. We are a lot more populated now comapred to when we were in the 1860s(we were the least populated of the Southern States.)
We have also had 4 presidents born here since as well.
Remember the Alamo!
Texas, Alaska, Montana, Idaho...for starters.
How many were at this rally held in Austin Saturday? Is the one held near the captiol between Colorado and Lavaca?
Why have Texas leave when we could just deport all the lefties to Cuba?
And, the South shall rise again!
All my ex’s live in Texas, I’ll go anyway. Live free or die
We have also had 4 presidents born here since as well.
I know LBJ and Ike were born in Texas. Who were the other two?
Before such severe measures are taken folks should do something more sensible first: secede from the Republican Party.
I’m old, got plenty of guns and ammo. Tired of this big gov crap. Send troops my way, my gggrandchildren will remember what paw-paw did to defend their freedom.
Republican Gov George Bush put an end to the Republic of Texas secessionist movement back in the 90s.
That was at the armed stand-off in Fort Davis.
There are still members of that group around. One of them is a freeper by the name of Republic of Texas
And do you really think that our fighting men and women in uniform would sit quietly while their countrymen were being attacked by foreign armies?
Do you think that our fellow American citizens would?
Besides, there are more armed Texans than the biggest army any country could deploy here.
Did they ever catch the dude hid out in the Davis Mountains?
In 1861, the states had their own militias, organized, trained and funded by the state. The militias became the National Guard, which is now under federal control. A civil war now would amount to no more than a few hundred arrests, probably carried out solely by the FBI and a few other agencies with armed police. Of course, if the military broke with its CIC, all bets would be off. What used to be fodder from miltary fiction writers is beginning to look like serious scenarios, thanks to the ‘Bama.
His body was found several years later. He died from a bad case of indigestion caused by chewing on the muzzle of his rifle.
Man, are you dreaming.
A foreign attack against the state of Texas such as you describe would instantly cause a complete breakdown of the power of Washington over the US military.
Our people in uniform, from the highest ranks to the lowest, would not stand still and allow a foreign power to massacre their fellow citizens, secession or not.
They’d likely refuse all orders from Washington to stand down, and would likely put most of the Executive and Legislative branches of the federal gov’t under arrest for treason.
And then, they’d commence to open a gargantuan can of whoop-ass on whoever was attacking us.
Ain't that the truth. Best move I ever made in my life was moving here from California.
I think that Texas is one of the few states that still retains the legal right to do so. Anyone??
LMAO!
We don't get the chance to find out. External and international events take precedent. Texas eventually achieves "independence", but there are very few left who notice the shift.
I would SO love to be a citizen of Texas by the time this happens!
