Dang, you are a sick puppy, Kent.

Glad you liked my commentary. One of my personal faves from my Grudge Match days. I miss that site.

That's what all the kids at the playground kept saying, while I was busy chasing them around in my breakaway leather clown suit. ;)

The best article on the theft of Kirby's art by former Marvel staffers is here. The originals, unfortunately for the Kirby estate, are a bit of a legal grey area since it was all work done for hire and other companies of the day (DC for example) routinely destroyed the originals.

Yes, but did your clown suit have a comically wide pink necktie with huge yellow polka dots on it? If not, I have one word: Amateur.

[::bowing deeply::] There is still so very much I have yet to learn from you in the degenerate arts, O venerable Sensei. Tutor this most unworthy one, if you will, in your matchless mastery of Aggressively Naughty hijinks; share with me, please, your sacred diseases. [::touches self solemnly with rubber chicken, in the traditional manner::] ;)

Marvel already has a few gay superheroes. Plus all the mutants are gay now anyways - they moved to San Francisco in the current story line.

I don’t think Stan really has anything to do with Marvel anymore...does he?

No. He sued Marvel and they settled out of court and he got a 10 million dollar pay day and that is it as far as their relationship. He still does guest appearances in the movies as a tribute.

And comic-book enthusiasts the world over have a collective coronary....Yes, Marvel and Disney are (mostly) respected companies, but I see this as nothing but bad for Marvel. They’re probably popping champagne corks over at DC.

I don't know about that. DC has been owned by Warner Bros since the 60s.

Also, in America comic book reading is almost extinct. Sure comic book themes still sell like movies and cartoons but no new generation is picking up the comic book reading hobby and those that are still reading comics are getting older and fewer.

In Japan and Asia on the other hand comic books are read by everyone and are found in every subject.

Scholars thing the censorship of the 50s caused comics to never grow up and the publishers kept them corny and dumbed down for so long they never evolved the way the comic book medium did in Japan.

By the way Japanese style anime and manga were direct copies of the American invention. Comic books are a totally American invention that the Japanese made their own while it dies out here. The Disney cartoons are credited for the big eyed look of anime characters for example.

Ben Grim is NOT gay. “Bruce” Banner on the other hand...

The X-Men now live in San Francisco because they are ‘accepted’ there in the comic book.

Or definitely will change how the whole subplot is viewed in “Adventures In Babysitting” talking about Thor being gay.

I've never seen that movie but I remember when Thor didn't have his own comic series and he always seemed that way. I got out of reading comics by the time the '70s rolled around but I always pictured him fitting into the disco scene.

Eisner is no longer running Disney. There is no doubt in my mind that Eisner was THE catalyst behind the company openly promoting not only a gay agenda, but adopting anti-family tones in many of its products.

I remember all of the hoopla and looking at what Eisner did, I don't see it as a gay agenda but more along the lines of making money through any avenue possible, to the point of cheapening the brand and nearly ruining the company (including driving away some families).

Now that John Lasseter and the Pixar/Apple folks are running Disney Animation and Disney Imagineering, the quality of the film/animation products has started to rise, and Lasseter is overseeing a rejuvenation of the theme parks.
