It will be interesting to see how the very people who used poll numbers as a means of criticism against President Bush react to these falling numbers.

How could anybody choose "...at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance"?

What's to "somewhat approve"? He buys his kids ice cream? He chooses nice vacation spots? He has nice creases in his pants?

I’m just happy from the looks of it, Ted Kennedy dropping dead did him no favours and gave him no traction.

The bigger story is that his overall approval rating is now -8, where it had been essentially 50/50 for a long time.

That category is an appeal to the good nature and white guilt of the populace.

They’re trying to show SOME category where he still scores high.

Let me clarify. President Bush was savaged by the media, his poll numbers were abysmal since he could do absolutely no right. No President in our history has been so publicly savaged. He endured those alligators for eight years. Obama gets his in what, eight months? I’d be laughing.

I’m just amazed the gump managed to waste so much political capital and drop over 20 points in 6 months. Well I’m not that amazed, I always figured abysmal failure and Obama went together. When you look back at the mans life record, it just shouts “charming lying used car salesman”.

The groups he is paying off, as he promised during the election, are firmly in his corner. Unionized workers (SEIU, UAW, NEA, etc.), people who pay no taxes, fringe "rights" groups (pick it - homosexual rights, pro-abortion "feminists", environemental radicals, etc.), people who pay no taxes, and the young urban hipsters (who, ironically, will pay the price for Obama's Excellent Adventure).

What we're seeing now is that the people who don't like him are finding it increasingly safe to criticize him to others, which is causing a hit on his overall approval ratings.

I've been thinking that as Obama's poll number drop and he gets in political trouble the Chicago thug in Obama will come out. We've already seen this with his administration calling out the union goons in response to the townhall protests.

I'm not so sure. He is the kind that lets poll numbers guide his decisions. He loves being in power more than anything and as it becomes clearer to him that he's going downhill fast, he just might abandon a few things on his "wish list".

Figure that he has the blacks (12%).

Throw in the die-hard Dems that always vote (D), even if Hitler is on their ballot. Add the white-guilt libs who can't, or won't, admit that voting for Obama was a mistake. Also the (non-taxpaying) college kids who think "That Black Guy" is "Cool", ACORN operatives, Dead People, and Actors/Actresses/Pop Culture Divas that need to be trendy.

I'd say that BO has a floor somewhere around 30%. Plus or minus a couple.

Truly, this *has* worked out better than I thought it would. I figured that we be in for at least six months of honeymooning stories about "The First Black President To (whatever)". Instead, we've got "The First Black President to be Less Successful than Jimmy Carter", and we're not even 8 months in yet.

What's to "somewhat approve"? He buys his kids ice cream? He chooses nice vacation spots? He has nice creases in his pants?

For the State Run Media's favorite faux conservative Obamaphile David Brooks, that is evidently indeed the case:

“I remember distinctly an image of–we were sitting on his couches, and I was looking at [Obama's] pant leg and his perfectly creased pant,” Brooks says, “and I’m thinking, a) he’s going to be president and b) he’ll be a very good president.” In the fall of 2006, two days after Obama’s The Audacity of Hope hit bookstores, Brooks published a glowing Times column. The headline was “Run, Barack, Run.”…

I'm sure that's the quote to which you were referring in your post, but I just had to clarify it in case there might be some here who might not have read Brook's breathlessly vacuous revelation yet.

And this ditz thinks Sarah Palin is shallow? This man makes Paris Hilton sound downright profound. Next time he's on TV, I must remember to scrutinize his hairline for those telltale blonde roots.
