Reid: Teddy's death "going to help us"
http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/0909/Reid_Teddys_death_going_to_help_us.html ^

The Reno Gazette Journal has a sit-down with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who addresses the Ted Kennedy question in, um, an interesting way.

Q: How will U.S. Sen. (Edward) Kennedy's death affect things?

A: I think it's going to help us. He hasn't been around for some time. We're going to have a new chairman of that committee, it'll be, I don't know for sure, but I think Sen. (Chris) Dodd, (D-Conn.). He has a right to take it. Either him or (U.S. Sen. Tom) Harkin, (D-Iowa), whichever one wants it can have it. I think he (Kennedy) will be a help. He's an inspiration for us. That was the issue of his life and he didn't get it done.

Nothing in here is particularly new -- Kennedy will help the cause, Dodd gets to carry the banner, Kennedy's work remains undone. But the straight-shooting Reid does have a gift for saying non-controversial things in the most controversial way possible.

These Dhimmicrats are really creepy.

Gee Harry, using your own perverse logic, all those senior citizens that you're going to murder are then going to REALLY help you. Right?

Reid reminds me of a small town undertaker who would softly encourage the widow woman to opt for the gold casket handles because “old Bill” would want it that way.

Hmm...guess that’d be wrong if we said it but OK for Dingy Harry. Heck, why beat around the bush? “Planting that fat bastidge was the greatest thing that could possibly have happened to the Democratic party! We’re gonna get more power now! Woohoo! Yeah! More power!” Hey, it worked at Wellstone’s do...

Actually, Harry did say something completely new.

He basically said that Ted Kennedy hurt them the past 8 months, by hanging on to his Senate seat when he couldn’t do the work, meaning they were missing the chair of important committees.

IN other words, Harry Reid just attacked Ted Kennedy, and said they were better off with Ted Kennedy dead.

I don’t think anybody on our side has said anything quite so harsh.

The ONLY way “it’s going to help them” is if they can shoehorn another Dem into his cold seat. Otherwise, he’s a dead weight around their collectivized necks.

He may not be around soon, either. This is probably the Democrats' attempt to rehabilitate Dodd's image.

Well, I DID have a client say, upon learning of the senator's passing,
"There is a God."

I don't think it's going to "help." The Dems want to keep that phoney Camelot mojo going, but that only works with the Kool Aid drinkers. They've lost the broader American public and Teddy's ghost won't help there.

Good Lord, I can't believe he said that!

"Hey, Bill, I heard your grandpa died. That's too bad."

Yeah, well, it's going to help us because he was really rich and we're in the will.

You’d think some of these democrats would do the right thing and step down. Spend their last days or whatever time they have with their families. Make way for someone else to do the job for “the citizens of their state”.

Well look at what they’re trying to do with the empty senate seat. Kennedy made sure Romney, who brought Kennedy’s state the socialized medicine he’s yearned for lo these many years, would not be able to appoint a replacement for Kerry had he won the race against Bush. Now they seek to undo that so Deval Patrick can appoint someone now.

Given all that, I see nothing quelling their enthusiasm for allowing Kennedy to vote on any senate bill until he’s replaced. They’ll just say they have the ability to interpolate what his vote would have been were he still alive through his other votes and work.

With a little help from John Edwards “channeling” Teddy for them, Teddy can still vote in the senate.
