The Reno Gazette Journal has a sit-down with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who addresses the Ted Kennedy question in, um, an interesting way.
Q: How will U.S. Sen. (Edward) Kennedy's death affect things?
A: I think it's going to help us. He hasn't been around for some time. We're going to have a new chairman of that committee, it'll be, I don't know for sure, but I think Sen. (Chris) Dodd, (D-Conn.). He has a right to take it. Either him or (U.S. Sen. Tom) Harkin, (D-Iowa), whichever one wants it can have it. I think he (Kennedy) will be a help. He's an inspiration for us. That was the issue of his life and he didn't get it done.
Nothing in here is particularly new -- Kennedy will help the cause, Dodd gets to carry the banner, Kennedy's work remains undone. But the straight-shooting Reid does have a gift for saying non-controversial things in the most controversial way possible.
I don’t know about Harry but it sure made me feel better!
Well, HE said it!!!
Gee Harry, using your own perverse logic, all those senior citizens that you're going to murder are then going to REALLY help you. Right?
Reid reminds me of a small town undertaker who would softly encourage the widow woman to opt for the gold casket handles because “old Bill” would want it that way.
he is a cold hearted woman
One criminal steps up to take another criminals seat.
From the guy that was weened on a jalapeno dill pickle, and potty trained at the point of a gun...
Hmm...guess that’d be wrong if we said it but OK for Dingy Harry. Heck, why beat around the bush? “Planting that fat bastidge was the greatest thing that could possibly have happened to the Democratic party! We’re gonna get more power now! Woohoo! Yeah! More power!” Hey, it worked at Wellstone’s do...
Sounda like Reid wanted to “off” him sooner.
Helped me for sure...
That little bug-eyed goon. Doesn’t he know that only us conservatives should be happy that “Teddy” is gone? /sarc
Actually, Harry did say something completely new.
He basically said that Ted Kennedy hurt them the past 8 months, by hanging on to his Senate seat when he couldn’t do the work, meaning they were missing the chair of important committees.
IN other words, Harry Reid just attacked Ted Kennedy, and said they were better off with Ted Kennedy dead.
I don’t think anybody on our side has said anything quite so harsh.
I wonder if Teddy will still have a vote on ObamaCare? Oh God! Don’t give Barry and his Chicago goons any ideas.
This Reid fellow is an absolute repository for fabulous quotes.
Alas, another meathead!
Reid reminds me of that weasel in “The Mummy” that finally got his comeuppance......eaten by scareb beetles.
Reid is finished.
The ONLY way “it’s going to help them” is if they can shoehorn another Dem into his cold seat. Otherwise, he’s a dead weight around their collectivized necks.
Harry is beyond help, he’s going down to the son a straddle the line basketball coach.
He may not be around soon, either. This is probably the Democrats' attempt to rehabilitate Dodd's image.
