Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby renamed Hubby Hubby for marriage equality
Examiner ^ | September 1, 2009 | Dee Long

Posted on 09/01/2009 12:00:58 PM PDT by maggief

Would that changing people's attitudes were as easy as changing the name of a popular ice cream flavor!

Ben & Jerry's (www.benjerry.com) is showing its support for the historic legalization of gay and lesbian marriage in its home state of Vermont, and marriage equality for everyone (www.freedomtomarry.org) by changing the name of its popular Chubby Hubby ice cream to "Hubby Hubby" throughout September, featuring Hubby Hubby sundaes at all its ice cream shoppes in Vermont.

Chubby Hubby/"Hubby Hubby" features fudge covered peanut butter-filled pretzels in vanilla malt ice cream rippled with fudge and peanut butter.

That's a shame. I actually like the ice cream, but I certainly won't be buying it with that monicker stuck to it.

I wonder if people will start taking containers of this ice cream out of the freezer cases in grocery stores and leaving them to melt on room temp shelves elsewhere in the stores?

Actually it’s just being called “Hubby Hubby” on it’s website. The actual containers will not be relabeled.

As for me I don’t care as I prefer Haagan Daz.

I have never tasted Ben & Jerry’s nor will I ever.

I try to avoid if I can, any radical leftist companies. A few times it is unavoidable but I can surely do without a particular brand of ice cream.

Wouldn't Hubby's Chubby for Hubby be a more accurate name if they are going to "honor" the new gay "marriage" law.

Just one more reason not to eat their overpriced crap. Want to see a moonbat’s head explode? Tell them that Ben and Jerry’s has been cited more times for environmental violations in VT than has Vermont Yankee Nuclear.

I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to live in a place where you cannot buy Blue Bell vanilla. Once a year I am invited to a party put on by Texans where they bring in a shipment of Blue Bell for the event and I have not missed that party for 15 years.

Rutles to ya! I admit that I love their ice cream but haven’t bought it in years either - it’s way to expensive and a real artery clogger (very rich).

I buy the local brands of dairies nearby. Oh, and their political views are annoying.

I know, I know. But I just can’t see it. That’s $119 that really ought to go to my liposuction fund. Last time I was in Cancun there was a Blue Bell store, and I thought great, they can ship it all the way to southern Mexico to sell it, but not to Virginia.

Will they have a flavor to honor Teddy Kennedy? "Holds Mo Peel?" "Chappaquiddick Fridge?"
