Drink 8 glasses of water every day.

That's such BS. Your body tells you when you need to drink with this thing called thirst. And is a longer life spent mostly urinating really worth the effort?

That's when your body tells you that it's already dehydrated, actually.

And is a longer life spent mostly urinating really worth the effort?

There are times when a good pee is a very fine thing, indeed.

Oh no, imagine all the old people. On the bright side this will create a huge demand for end of life counselors and improve our unemployment numbers.

6. Avoid going into bars near Camp Pendleton or Quantico and exclaiming loudly “Semper Fidelis? What does that mean, always fairies?”

Thirst is just your mouth being dry. Just because you’ve made your mouth wet doesn’t mean you’ve rehydrated your body. We drink a lot of things in this country that are diuretics, which puts you in the bathroom more and dehydrates you in the process. Most people if they swapped half of what they drank with plain water would spend less time in the bathroom, and have fewer dehydration health problems like headaches.

You’re right. This myth arose from some military study on the water requirements of troops. It turns out that this includes fluid derived from food, like fruits, vegetables, meat, juices, etc.

Total junk science, but because it’s a round number and emotionally appealing, some people have glommed onto it as a health benefit.

I used to live in a 14th floor apartment.

If I drank 8 glasses of water a day AND took the stairs every day I would also have had to wear Depends.

I like what that crusty British WWI vet said was the reason he lived so long.

Whiskey, cigarettes and wild, wild women.
