Cops jump on swine-flu power: Shots heard 'round the world'

A "pandemic response bill" currently making its way through the Massachusetts state legislature would allow authorities to forcefully quarantine citizens in the event of a health emergency, compel health providers to vaccinate citizens, authorize forceful entry into private dwellings and destruction of citizen property and impose fines on citizens for noncompliance.

If citizens refuse to comply with isolation or quarantine orders in the event of a health emergency, they may be imprisoned for up to 30 days and fined $1,000 per day that the violation continues.

H1N1 is of little importance as other than an infrastructure “dress rehearsal” for the Avian flu H5N1 epidemic, that has the potential for being the deadliest plague in human history.

There really is no comparison of probable mortality for H5N1 among human diseases. This is magnified by the cytokine storm or Acute Respiratory Disease Syndrome (ARDS), the overreaction of the immune system, which can be caused by many things, including a novel influenza, and has a 50% death rate in its own right.

ARDS happens on about day 5 of symptoms, and requires the use of an oxygen ventilator, of which the US is in very short supply. And with ventilation, a doctor can usually tell from a single chest X-ray if the patient will live or die, the lung damage is so severe.

Therefore, there is a desperate effort to find some drug formula that can inhibit the immune system enough so that it does not overreact. This is very difficult, as some 150 histamines and other chemicals are involved in the cytokine storm, and their interactions are not fully understood.

Hopefully an Over The Counter recipe can be devised, and there are some good possibilities of taking out several of the major antagonists.

Then, if someone doesn’t develop ARDS, they only have to contend with the virus itself, which also can be deadly.

Obama is a front This entire administration is an illusion.

So was the Bush administration...They're puppets in chiefs..

These guys are being manipulated and orchestrated by well connected, super rich globalist SOBs standing behind the curtains.

In reality, Obama is just an amateur street Communist, a leftist who's told what to do...Bush passing off the batton to this guy was all orchestrated...I think the elections are and have been corrupted, and compromised....Put some black guy in office so when things start crashing down, hopefully the blacks won't riot cause *their* guy is in there, and if the whites bitch and don't fall in line, accuse them of being racist...

All presidents front political machines. But the difference between Obama and Bush is stark, and I don't agree to the comparison. The only president Obama is similiar to is Clinton, in that the weekly, even daily rain of catstrophic news and outrage never stops, and it's always in a form that undermines America.

Which is no surprise, since ALL of Obama's people came from Hillary's camp.

Ironically, denial of habeus corpus in these cases is done by the court itself, precluding further demands by those under quarantine

Do you understand what habeas corpus is? It is not a get out of jail/prison/tb-ward/whatever free card. It is a way that a person under confinement can force the State to demonstrate to a neutral court that the confinement is legal. The fact that the court concludes that the confinement is legal, and does not release the person from confinement, does not mean that they have been denied their habeas corpus rights. You do not have a right to not be confined. You have a right to not be confined illegally.

That is correct, but what is being suspended by the court is the possibility of future HC writs. Ordinarily, because one writ is rejected does not preclude the filing of subsequent writs. But what in effect the court is saying is that the court will no longer hear subsequent HC writs from that individual.

Yes, I agree with everything you’ve said; other than that the possibility of severe pandemic may be possibe with this H1N1, since all genomic segments (or whatever they’re called, I’m a science illiterate) are novel in humans. It could develop a higher CFR, especially if H5N1 gets in the mix. Ferret studies were done that suggested that if swine flu or H1N1 co-infects with the main seasonal flu strain, this can also cause much more severe illness in the ferret that is infected subsequently.

I am merely reporting what much more intelligent people have discussed in this regard.

I have also read that ARDS has a death rate of 50%, and that is WITH modern medicine being available. At home, I would assume most with that condition would die.

For one of the truly creepiest statements you have heard in a long time:

“Severe is relative”.

In this case, a severe H1N1 might kill from 100,000 to 300,000 Americans. But a severe H5N1, with its current mortality, could kill tens of millions of Americans.

H1N1 is just a dress rehearsal. Even in its more virulent form. H5N1 is like the freaking Andromeda Strain. It has more in common with the myxomatosis that wiped out almost all of Australia’s rabbits from 1950 to 1952, than it does with any other known human disease, as far as mortality goes.

My .02, and they’re worth about that, is that if/when H5N1 goes human to human, it’ll reduce to maybe 10 to 15% CFR. I’ve been reading about it since I first saw it in the news in Hong Kong, maybe 5 years ago or so? I saw it on FR first, then found flu forums. Of course, if it becomes highly transmissible, even a CFR of 10-15% would be a TEOTWAKI situation.

I have a poor track record for prophet-ism.

Since there have been news articles from Egypt claiming they have 3 patients with swine H1N1 and H5N1, who knows, maybe they’ll meet up and create something new. Of course the CDC says it’s not so, but the CDC is a political creature whose function is to keep the populace racking up their credit cards. We’ll see.

The rule book is being rewritten by H5N1 in a lot of ways. Unlike other influenza types:

1) It doesn’t limit to RT, but reproduces in several internal organs as well.
2) It has defied the typical declining mortality curve, by maintaining the 60% mortality for years now, in all places except Egypt, where a somewhat less mortality curve exists in a *pediatric* clade, allowing it a better chance of recombination with other flu types and strains.
3) The three or maybe four major clades, Chinese, Bangladesh, Indonesian and Egyptian, are each taking different, but almost equally ominous paths.

The Chinese clade is increasing its geographical endemic range, with outbreaks popping up hundreds of miles apart.

The Bangladesh clade is more oriented to attacking other mammals than humans, and threatens widespread famine.

The Indonesian clade is the currently highest human mortality.

And the Egyptian clade is moving into a pediatric form. Once it “accomplishes its recombination mission”, it can reemerge as a more lethal form.

4) It has an amazingly high number of animal vectors, many having very different immune systems, such as cats, dogs, and fish. Its mortality varies tremendously between species, which aides in its travel.
5) Because it is a novel pathogen, a far smaller quantity of virus is needed to transmit the disease than typical, as the immune system will be unaware of it for days during its incubation period.
6) There have been familial clusters that have killed all related family members, but not even infected spouses who dwelt in the same household.
