I just got off the phone with the superindentent's office of schools in Desoto county MS. A letter will be going out today for parent approval for your children to hear the Obama speech. The school don't have cable, but teachers will show it over the internet. Under no circumstances will children be shown it though without parental ok.
Maybe there ISP will have performance problems for a couple of hours? Ya think?

Here’s the e-mail sent out to parents of students in Plano, Texas (an area that’s about 70% Republican). Still don’t trust the school and will be sending a note with my kid that gives strict instruction that he is not to watch Dear Leader B. Hussein Obama’s indoctrination video or participate in related activities.

The US Department of Education sent a letter to all school districts on August 25 announcing a presidential address to school children on Tuesday, September 8. The topic of this public broadcast is the importance of education. To clarify questions and concerns about this presidential address, Plano ISD notes the following:
This event is not a component of the Plano ISD curriculum and is therefore not a mandatory activity.
Viewing the broadcast is not a planned classroom activity for September 8.
Like many historical events, Plano ISD will have this video available for students and teachers via the digital video library.
Not a problem— my kid goes to private. Kinda takes the sting away from the high tuition.

Just got an email from our superintendent that they will not be showing the speech. I’m guessing that quite a few parents voiced their objections.
This must be driving Obama crazy. His speech is being lumped into the same category as sex-ed classes.
Every absence sends a fiscal message.

Amen to that...I am thankful everyday that I can send my son to parochial school.
can you imagine how the media and left would react if President Bush did this.......
Hope this gets repeated in other locations and that parents do NOT sign the permission slips.
