Skip to comments.FL: 5-17 year olds forced to listen GREAT LEADER Obama's "necessary" speech OR ELSE
Posted on 09/04/2009 1:59:45 PM PDT by steve0
Our children in Florida are threatened if they don't attend Obama's diatribe. What part of "aint [America] no more, okay? did YOU not understand? (Officer Wesley Cheeks) http://michellemalkin.com/2009/09/04/broward-county-fl-schools-no-you-cant-opt-out-of-obama-speech/
From M Malkin
School Source website: http://www.browardschools.com/info/obama.htm
or else....what ?
FL: Opt-Out, NO not yours, you may not have.
US: Play hookie? Cost you libtard administrators approx $35.00 per student:
YES We Can!!!
OHHHH YES We Can!!!
I live ion Southern California and am releived that I just received notice that the speech will not be aired at the school. Also instructs parents that want their children to view it to record / tivo it.
If Obama and the left had it their way they would grab up everyone’s kids and put them into youth camps to raise them.
Of course, the weak and unwanted would be eliminated.
Gosh that idea sounds familiar!
James F. Notter superintendent freeze it, personalize it, get in their faces!
I believe his majesty won that county overwhelmingly in the election so they are immune to any rational thought.
I am in the adjoining county (palm beach county).
Thank God, they are not pulling this crap here.
I was sure they would be right in line with Broward.
THIS TUESDAY ONLY
TO ALL STUDENTS 5-17 OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA:
IT IS MANDATORY TO BRING IPODS AND MP3 PLAYERS TO SCHOOL
My kids will be sitting in the library, courtesy of the note I have to write them to be excused from that nonsense.
Excpet that that isn’twhat they’re going to say, according to the ‘lesson plans’ that have been distributed. This is nothign more than political proselytizing and low-rent demagoguery.
Why don’t we all jusr stand up and sing, “Tomorrow Belongs to Me” while we’re at it...
STAY AWAY FROM MY KIDS, YOU COMMUNIST BASTARDS!
The article says they will not provide an alternative “opt-out” space for kids who do not want to see the speech. Unless I missed it, though, there wasn’t a threat of punishment or discipline for any child not in attendence, so absolutely keep your kid home that day.
Of course, this speech will be recorded for future viewing, which they will likely spring on the absentees without notice at some point in the future. If your kids have cells tell them to text or call you if this happens on Day 2 of school then go get them for a family emergency.
"Therefore, providing for a separation from this Address does not align with our practices and responsibility to provide a well rounded, quality education for all students."
In other words, "YOU PARENTS HAVE A CUP OF STFU. WE WILL OBEY HUSSEIN & NOT YOU PEOPLE!"
Don’t tar the entire state with the decision of one county - I know of one county, Pinellas, that has made the day an ‘Excused Absence’ day. Like many other states, it is the county by county school boards that appear to be the deciding authorities.
Haven't heard back...
That is exactly right.
He didn’t come right out and say it. However, he did hint that if you keep your kids home, they would just re-play for them at a later date.
I asked our principal to let me know if we had to watch the speech because I needed to put it in my lesson plans if we were. She did not get back to me. Since we have off Monday, there is no way for our school to prep for the speech.
I think it was our schools way of ignoring the speech all together.
Collier County is not showing it, but will publish it on the district website if we choose to watch it with our kids later...not. lol.
Can’t the Gubinor over-ride the schools showing the O hour?
Thought you would want to see this,
1. Loose one of your 5 gimmie’s
2. Impact your grade, unexcused absence not necessarily qualifies for you to turn in or get credit for missed assignments
3. This Absence would qualify to be counted against you affecting your right to drive, for those of driving age. Florida Statute 322.091 and 1003.27(2)(b)
Those are just the explicit, some libtard teachers may apply some “unwritten” consequences
II. PATTERNS OF NON-ATTENDANCE
Non-attendance for instructional activities is established by tardiness,
early-sign-outs, or absences for all or any part of the day. The maximum
number of days that a student may be absent without acceptable
documentation justifying the absence is 5.
1. Excused Absences:
Make-up work for credit and grade is allowed for ALL excused absences.
No School Monday
Spoken like a true blue party butt-licking, knee-pad wearing comrade.
You know any schools open on Labor Day?
This what Collier County is doing for September 11th remembrance:
sent home today from the principal at my children’s Catholic School in NJ....
“With all due respect to the office of President of the United States, XXXX XXX School will not present President Obama’s address to the students on Tuesday. Parents may choose to view the address with their children in their homes during the webcast, or download to view at another time.”
Seems like a Great American School Sickout is in order.
Broward County parents: Please consider keeping your kids at home on speech day. We have to push back on these tyrants.
MoJo, same message from our public school here in South Jersey!!! Our kids don’t start until the 8th, so it was very likely they would have seen it. Perhaps the Superintendent received enough emails and voicemails to realize how polarizing it would be. I LOVE MY TOWN!!!

Personally, I think this is a teachable moment. Think of conservative parents sending their kids to school well-armed against the orgy of Obama worship. Teach them to proudly stand up and tell the teachers, and anyone else, that they don’t see Obama as all that and a bag of chips.
Educate your children about the many ways Obama is hurting our country, betraying our history, and setting them up for a poorer and less free future. Teach your kids to know a phony when they see one. Teach them that they don’t serve the president, and to always be skeptical about politicians.
Let them know that the best thing they can do to help the country is to help Obama fail in his agenda.
Then send them to school with instructions to always be respectful, but to make clear that they will not be taken in, and they will not be afraid to disagree with the President.
I think that’s a much better idea than keeping them home.
Also remind you that Press Secretary Gibbs insulted and attacked every school that won’t show the great leaders speech when he said, yeah some School’s “wont let you read Huckleberry Finn. So ya’ll just backward idiots who want interrupt all previous planning and normal preparing for the whole school year to hear the historic, uncomparable Obama.
What about the 5 year old?
I used to be for showing up and opting out, but make it cost them the $35.00 as administration in many of the government schools will not assure parent’s that the obamanation will not be seen. Libtard teachers, in other words, are free to sneak it in or even give it their discretion. So NO my kids will not see it, especially after seeing who Obama is about and who he surrounds himself with. Bozo the clown may have some inspiring words for my kids about staying in school yada yada but I’ll pass thanks.
I can see your point about a five-year old. But as the father of a 10-year old, I have no problem with sending her to school with permission to push back, however respectfully.
In fact, I welcome the opportunity to continue her education in this regard. And I live in Massachusetts.
That was an odd analogy. I'd bet that the schools that won't let students read Huckleberry Finn will require them to watch Dear Leader. And I'd bet that schools that will let students read Huckelberry Finn won't require anyone to watch Dear Leader.
“What about the 5 year old?”
I had a long conversation with my 6 year old about Kings vs. Presidents last night. I was particular to explain that we may hear our government officials, but we do not need to “listen” to them - as in do what they say. I used a silly example. If a King says pull your pants down, you better do it. If a President says pull your pants down, call the police and have him arrested.
We also had a good conversation about whether Presidents are in “charge” of this country and whether they should be asking children to do anything. Parents should ask him to do something. Presidents can ask the parents to have children do something.
My school (upscale Dekalb County, GA) won’t respond to requests for information about whether they plan to use the lesson plan. We’ll call in sea-”sick” from Lake Lanier Tuesday morning, hopefully with fish in the box.
I have two grand children in my care, 9 and 10 year olds. I went to their school this morning and asked the principal what the plans were when 0bama speaks. He stated simply, "we will not be showing it in our school." I thanked him and left.
Music to my ears.
Update, Had a pleasant conversation with the principal, at my kid's HS each teacher is making the call on whether are not to show it in their classrooms.
She offered to have my kid's Social Studies teacher e-mail or call me.
Commented that she thought that there would be enough classes district wide to crash the RSS feed. (Didn't seem all that impressed with the planning and foresight involved...)
A transcript will be available on line at www.edd-gov.org starting Sunday.
Just say no!
shakes head in amazement!
My local schools has this up on the website.
Information About President Obamas Talk to Students on September 8
We have been informed that President Obama intends to conduct a webcast to students throughout the nation on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Our information is that he intends to use this time to stress the importance of education, and to encourage students to stay in school.
The District’s policy regarding the use of outside materials in the classroom requires that the materials relate directly to the course of study, and must be age and grade appropriate. As a result, the webcast will not be shown in most classrooms. If you desire your child to view the program and it is not available in your school, you and your child may view it together at a later time and date on the websites, www.whitehouse.gov/mediaresources or www.ed.gov. It will also be available on C-SPAN.
If you desire that your child not watch this program in school, please contact your school principal and inform him/her of your request.
