It's been nearly seven months since CNBC reporter Rick Santelli took a stand against the Obama administration, which inspired the tea party movement - and the White House hasn't forgotten.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked by CNBC Washington correspondent John Harwood why the administration decided to go after Santelli after his Feb. 19 call for a metaphorical revolt over President Barack Obama's economic policies.

Good job, Rick! Keep it up!
Santelli’s a hero!
Rick Santelli was only the spark. It could have been anybody or any incident. The fire was already smoldering....
This group can take no criticism...as the OZero’s popularity wains, watch for him to really go off the deep end. If his last minute ploy to get this passed does not make it, better tuck and duck till we can get him out of office.

“Gibbs had previously invited Santelli to the White House for coffee to discuss the plan, but Gibbs said the Secret Service probably wouldn’t have allowed Santelli now.”
But they allow Van Jones...a self admitted communist, radical leftist and enemy of the state, in my opinion, to be an advisor to the POtuS? Puhhhhlleeeeeeeeeeze...
Yeah, I kind of look at him as a hero, he definitely was the right man in the right place at the right time.
Now if we could just get some of our representatives as fired up and open mouthed as he.

We’re inside their decision cycle. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Bump to that. We’ve been waiting for that to happen a long time too!
I remember when the real Baghdad Bob was claiming that Sadam was winning the war at a time when US troops were at the city limits. I wonder if Gibbs will be doing the same thing as the Obama administration goes down for the third time.
This administration is shattering faster than I ever could have imagined, but then I did not think that Obama would be so blatant in pushing his socialist agenda at every level via some of the most outrageous characters ever to grace the political scene. Van Jones is just the tip of the iceberg.
You’re right there! It started a year ago many of us were manning the phones trying to stop the TARP bill. And they ignored us then.
Santelli’s opinions on CNBC (clearly a pro-Obama, green shoots, animal spirit pimping channel) were all the more poinient!
Santelli—the shot heard ‘round the country.
You on my list Santelli! Mo fo!
That is what makes ZERO such a small man. His singling out individuals for revenge for political differences.
“But they allow Van Jones...a self admitted communist, radical leftist and enemy of the state, in my opinion, to be an advisor to the POtuS? Puhhhhlleeeeeeeeeeze...”
.
Why not? They are two birds of a feather.
It could have, but he was the one who had the guts to speak out early on.
They bring Santelli up when he’d nearly been forgotten? That doesn’t seen smart.
Heh heh... Can’t complain about their stupidity showing.
Thank-you Rick for getting the tea party movement started.
Rick said what we were all thinking: “What in hell is this clown in the White House doing?”....
