I knew he was getting out Wednesday, and thought SOMEONE might post a thread.

Guess not.

Welcome back, Jim ... I for one, want to hear what you have to say.

I would prefer Jim Traficant, felon, to 3/4 of the House of Rep. and 100% of Dems. I have always wondered if he did not get railroaded because of his plain spoken rants. He was an embarrassment to the Dems. and a great help in finding that aggravating kernal of truth under the pile of garbage the Dems piled on--plus, he was entertaining.

Youngstown — Federal inmate 31213-060 is heading home today to a city where many still revere him, despite a conviction that made him a national disgrace. James Traficant, the former Democratic congressman fond of staccato rants, cowboy boots and a weather-beaten toupee, is scheduled to leave a federal prison in Minnesota sometime today after serving seven years for bribery. Some residents today will wear “Welcome Home Jimbo” T-shirts and boast of his release. Others will tune out the banter, having grown tired long ago of the Traficant road show. In his speeches on the floor of the U.S. House, spittle...

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Former Ohio Rep. James Traficant walked out of a Minnesota prison Wednesday morning after serving a seven-year sentence for bribery and racketeering. The nine-term Democrat from Youngstown left the Federal Medical Center in Rochester and stepped into a waiting cab. Traficant, who wore a gray T-shirt, white shorts, white knee-high socks and had his famously wild hair pulled back, ignored a reporter’s shouted question. He faces three years of probation. He hasn’t said whether he will retire or try to return to public life.

Imo, a real conservative. I hope he runs for Senator and wins.

Certainly if Alcee Hastings, impeached federal judge, can be elected to Congress, there is room for James Traficant to return. He has more sense than ALL the Democrats and many of the Republicans. If I could make him president, I would.

Being helpful to other FReepers is always preferable to being insulting. Perhaps it wasn’t the poster’s fault or perhaps it was a simple typo, rather than being “not very good.”

knarf, your search for jim traficant defaulted to a keyword search. For those not familiar, a keyword (in FR lingo) is a phrase that any user can add at the end of a posted article or vanity, before the first reply. I am now adding "jim traficant" as a keyword to this article, and now your search results in post #14 include this article.

Keywords can be used to classify an article for future search. For example, we used to have an occasional "Freeper Book Club" article which yielded a great variety of reading suggestions. Whenever I see a thread like that now, I add the keyword bookclub to the article as I'll remember to use that keyword in the future in a search....

Now, iff you click anywhere inside the search box in the upper right-hand corner, the search box will expand and let you search by (1) keyword (2) user (3) title or (4) Yahoo. I've tried it in both the current versions of Internet Explorer and FireFox. My recommendation for a "title" search is to search for the main word in a title, like Traficant, rather that trying to search the entire title. Hope this helps!
