PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University officials say more than 2,000 students have been sickened by swine flu during the first two weeks of classes on the Pullman campus.

But Saturday's football game between Stanford and Washington State will go on as scheduled.

School officials say there have been no deaths and no students have required hospitalization.

Dr. Dennis Garcia says most students suffer three to five days of discomfort. The school is handing out free flu kits including a thermometer, painkillers, throat lozenges, sport drinks, hand sanitizer and tissues.

keep in mind that swine flu and hangovers have a lot of the same symptoms. might be why all these colleges are throwing these numbers around.

pffft.....

WSU milking medicaid or whatever taxpayer funded program pays for these “visits”.....nonetheless, read the article again carefully, then read the WSU blog just as carefully and thoughtfully:
https://hws.wsu.edu/blog/default.asp

the minuscule number of “visits” to “providers” (per the WSU blog).....

before this week is out, most schools will be following suit.....gotta LOVE those poor sucker taxpayers, though :)

Sounds like reality is not matching up with expectations. Of course, that describes the Obama administration from day one.

That’s what I think too. ALL OF A SUDDEN we have everyone getting sick? I don’t buy it either. It’s probably just plain flu. Wash your hands, cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze, toss kleenexes down the commode when through, keep hands, fingers off face and out of mouth, eyes and noses. Wash hands, wash hands, wash hands.

I wonder how many of these students took the shot? That is certainly not Conservative territory out there and a lot of them are O-bots. (I have a niece in school there, she is one of the blissfully ignorant)

And the truth is, if it’s a college campus, and the student is sick, they are more than likely still attending class. Most college kids I know will go to class sick, because it’s only a few hours, then they can go back to their dorm or apartment. So it’s not like anyone’s being quarantined.

Hoax just like in 1976. More people died from the vaccine than from the flu itself.

For heaven’s sake, the hoax is in the deaths and panic, not the flu.

People get the flu, so what? How many deaths are in that school. A big none?

They are hoping REALLY hard to create a crisis where there is none.

Well there you are.

I can’t get over the amount of people who WANT to panic about this here in FR.

Geez oh Pete. People need to get a grip.

I do have to say, when Netmilsdad crashed his motorcycle on Friday and we walked into the emergency room at Henry Ford Hospital, the signs were pretty intimidating. Anyone with flu like symptoms needed to go to the desk and get a mask. My girls used so much of their foam hand cleaner, it looked like a bubble bath!

Both Dad and my little one are sniffing today but I think it’s allergies. We’ll probably get the flu. It’s happened before.

Which school are you talking about and can you give us a reference to the six deaths?

Was there a pre-existing condition? Was there a secondary infection that was not treated? Were they smokers or obese?

Oh, yeah, I remember it. Just as I recall Gerald Ford's "whip inflation now" WIN buttons which helped to install the worst president in the 20th century.

Haven't had a flu shot -- ever, and won't. More than half the time the MD scientists miss the flu virus target (for the vaccine) completely and, besides, the shots have risks in and of themselves.

I agree with you. This panic is what government power consolidators want so they can expand their influence, programs and direction. The Obamaites are masters of this technique. And the AIDs "crisis" was but one recent example.
Heaven help us.

YOU didn’t make it clear which school it was. Some obsure elementary school that your cousin’s family goes to, Washington State University or Stanford.

My ESP is not quite up to reading minds of other FReepers.

Again, could you please give us a reference for the six deaths at this school?

Thanks for the link to real inforamtion. A quote and a reminder on symptoms:

“Although many schools are reporting the massive outbreaks, others are attributing the absenteeism to other causes. Since over 50% of H1N1 infections do not produce fever, a runny nose is considered and allergy or a cold. A cough is diagnosed as bronchitis. Gastro-intestinal problems are call the “stomach flu”. A sore throat is diagnosed as strep throat. Conjunctivitis or pink eye is attributed to other infections. Influenza A positive cases are called seasonal flu or “normal flu, even though over 99% of influenza A positive cases at this time are swine flu.”

I have the dubious “honor” of being one of the original vaccinees from the Swine Flu “epidemic” in the 1970’s. I will NEVER submit to another government sponsored vaccination program regardless of the pressure they exert. They do not have a right to force their poison on my body and I will fight any attempts to vaccinate me against my will with all the power I can muster as a Sovereign Citizen of the United States. I still suffer from the “unintended” consequences of that forced vaccination today. Having undergone spinal surgery for a blown out disk (L4/L5 to be exact) three years ago and subsequently developing Guillain-Barre’ disease, I put two and two together. I did not die in that first mass vaccination like some did, I survived to be “nailed” by Guillain-Barre’ instead. I wish I could find the lawyer to sue this government into oblivion for my suffering. I am reminded daily of the impact this has had on my body. Damn them all to hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was it the same doc saying that he would not use the rush to market H1N1 vaccine?

We were going to get it but then a doc comes out and say he wouldnt give it to his family, then I am back at wondering.

My son has a trach and pulomonary issures due to Cerebral Palsy (neoro issues) so it is of concern.

Maybe I will wait and let the masses get it and see how they fair.

We usually slow down in the winter and there is always 1am grocery shopping when our community is down with various viruses/colds.

(I prefer the quiet time shopping, him not so much)
