OK - this is strange from the start.
How about the general population? Should we all withdraw from mankind because there are bad actors?
Shaun, you idiot. You have NO IDEA where that has been...
There is actually about the same percentage of assholes among NFL players as among the general population. Check FR for proof as the numbers seem to hold across the board with most groups.
So is this the Pounding she is getting for the Pounding she got? Just curious.
Before you smear this guy...the facts are on his side. He says she wanted to leave..she was drunk and he was trying to stop her from driving. He wanted her to take a cab. There was NO arrest, it was a citizen’s arrest as there was no evidence of abuse. HE HAS WITNESSES TO CORROBORATE his story.
Why anyone automatically would believe the word of this tramp is beyond me.
If you don’t like to watch don’t watch. Every segment of society has it’s 10%, so what do you want people to do? Do you want us to stay huddled in our homes because of this 10%?
If a business employed a high percentage of felons, would you still shop there?
It is no different every time you turn on the National Felon League.
(BTW, you name serves you well)
See post # 8.
Try 30% or more.
I’ve wondered how many in the NFL are in trouble with the law. I saw a list once of players in legal trouble in recent years. It was a small percentage of total NFL players, however, these guys are so high profile, that any of them getting arrested is big news.
I know Commissioner Goodell is concerned that these guys give the NFL a black eye.
Well, in any sport, if the big news headlines are for something off the field, that’s going to be bad news for your public image.
Define “high percentage” and try using some actual facts.
So true - she was in a mexican gang (she was confused, first thought she was black, then thought she was mexican) as a teen, drinking/drugs at 13 and was “discovered” in the Sharpstown Mall by some sleeze searching for “girls of color” (trust me, Sharpstown Mall is bad) for Maxim or Hustler or something like that...
Startling in its breadth, Benedict and Yaeger’s investigation into the off-the-field violence and criminal behavior that pervades the culture of professional football is as eye opening as it is disturbing. That these guys get into trouble is nothing new, but when their offenses are collected in one place—with mug shots, court records, police reports, and interviews with arresting officers—the effect is as surreal as the statistics: 21 percent of the NFL’s players have been charged with a serious crime.
I’m with you. NFL athletes are nothing more than a bunch of overpaid gangsta thugs.
Oh no, I think you have a really good idea where that’s been and no one in his right mind would go near it without a double hazmat suit.
Why is everyone believing the uber-skank Nguyen? Merriman’s lawyer said there was a dozen people at the house who said it never happened.
I suppose there are exceptions but I would rather walk down a dark alley and run into players from the U.S. soccer team than the thugs from this sport.Maybe they require the players to have a bit of class to play soccer.

So glad Parcells drafted Ware instead of this trash head.
Lately I think FR has even a larger and growing share of Richard Craniums.
Bungles are the worst case ... proably had more thugs in one location than the entire league .... but even when you factor in all 32 teams you are looking at a very small percentage
It is the same old story ... the minority is ALWAYS the focus. Hmm think I’ve senthat in practice elsewhere. The BAD BOYZ of theNFL get the lamestream media coverage ... while those tha excel and go about doing ther job are ignored.
Sensationalism sells.... the american people are damn ignorant these days they cant figure out simple things for themselves.
Smith reportedly has been unhappy with Merriman’s extracurricular activities, and there’s been speculation the Chargers will let him leave when he’s eligible to become an unrestricted free agent. Merriman has various business ventures and is enamored with the Los Angeles social scene.”
Sounds like Tila Tequila (ROTFL what a name) ain’t exactly upper crust but Merriman hasn’t done much to burnish his reputation with his off-field antics. Choosing Miss Tequila as his girlfriend and then getting into this little incident at 3:45 AM won’t help much.
Looks like the Chargers see the handwriting on the wall and they want to wash their hands of Merriman as soon as possible. He’s clearly a talent on the football field, but just as clearly lacks the discipline to handle any degree of success.
Its the same thing the media does to the armed forces. Im reading a book called Stolen Valor, that deals with medai distortions on Viet Vets. The media talks about how x % of veterans are homeless or drug users, but doesnt report that the same % or even higher of the general population has the same issues.
“Why anyone in their right mind supports this league by watching is beyond me.”
Because it’s entertaining? A fun thing to wager on? I’ll bet there’s a lower percentage of leftists in the NFL than Hollywood in general...
At any rate, Merriman in particular is likely innocent from what I’ve heard. Ms. Tequila was unable to produce any actual injuries, which seems a bit strange given Merriman’s obvious strength.
The good news is that this will likely result in Merriman finding a more suitable girlfriend. ;-)
[BTW, in addition to enjoying the NFL I’m a big Chargers fan.]
If I recall, there were maybe 20 players arrested last year in a league of 1600 players
What is the % of NFL felons?
I wouldn’t touch her without massive antibiotics, antifungals, and antivirals! Even then I wouldn’t touch her! Where that moron has been let no sane man follow! Yeech!
Let's see... 32 teams with 53 players each on the roster.
If you could post a comprehensive list of the 508 active NFL players with felony convictions I'd love to see that. In the meantime, while you're busy compiling that please try to remember that conservatives aren't interested in imposing their beliefs on others, that's a liberal gig.
I was thinking the same thing. If he got hung up on her, that poor SOB.
was gomer pyle there? “citizen’s arrest! citizen’s arrest!”
I wouldn’t touch her with someone else’s 10 foot pole!
Like that clown is “clean”.
You’re out of your mind if you think over 30% of NFL players are convicted felons.
Used porn whore.
Tila Tequila sex tape.
Search `n c.
WHY would he risk contracting a myriad of STDs from this world class skank and slut?
Hey, I resemble that remark!
On Fox news this morning they said he was NOT arrested because there was no evidence of assault.
His attorney said that Merriman was protecting her and stopping here from leaving because she was not in condition to drive.
I don’t think Tila is probably a very nice person to mess with.
Amazing. They hook up with a ghetto thug and wonder why they get their ass kicked.
The tramp stamps alone would be enough to send me running!
We’d need a picture of her head from the back.
in the words of my eight-year old son, "that is a general statement."
Yeah, and he’s a choir boy, right?
Glad I come to FR for my news.....now I know that the NFL is full of boy scouts/s
“Tequila, whose real name is Tila Nguyen,”
>So true - she was in a mexican gang (she was confused, first thought she was black, then thought she was mexican)<
Poor baby, no wonder she’s a mite confused.
Over generalize much? First, you apply the label of felon to every player in the league. Then you say over 30% of the players are convicted felons. Then when you’re caught in the uncomfortable position of being not just wrong, but incredibly ignorant, you try to wiggle out with your “now I know that the NFL is full of boy scounts/s” nonsense.
The NFL is comprised of over 600 players, if you include paid practice squad players. MOST OF THEM ARE GOOD PEOPLE. There are the Mike Vick’s and the Pacman Jones’s in the group, but they are the exception to the rule. Most NFL players donate to charity. They sponsor football camps for inner-city youth. They visit sick kids and wounded soldiers in the hospital. They read and respond to fan mail. They stay after practice to sign autographs for little kids. There are many more “boy scouts” on NFL rosters than thugs.
You didn’t even bother reading Shawne Merriman’s account of what happened over the weekend. He was trying to do the right thing and prevent a drunk from driving. He has over 10 witnesses that back him up. But he’s a felon, right? Just because some MTV floozy says so. Apparently “innocent until proven guilty” doesn’t apply to NFL players.
Congratulations. You have proved to the entire forum you don’t know a d*mn thing about the article YOU posted.
