I caught a bit of it. Two things came to mind:
1. His tone was typical full-on “organizing” mode. I could picture him giving this same speech in front of fifteen or twenty laid-off steel workers in south Chicago.
2. The Bee Gees “J-j-jive Talkin’”.
“It’s just you jive talkin’
you’re telling me lies, yeah,
Jive talkin’
you wear a disguise,
Jive talkin’,
so misunderstood,
Jive talkin’
You’re really no good.
snip
Jive talkin’
you’re tellin’ me lies, yeah
Your lovin’
still gets in my eyes
Nobody’ believe what you say,
It’s just your Jive talkin’
that gets in the way
Love talkin’ is all very fine, yeah
Jive talkin’ just isn’t a crime,
And if there’s somebody you’ll love till you die,
Then all that jive talking’
Just gets in your eye.”
In other words, the crowds gathering for The 0man are still so infatuated with his “present”, are still “blinded by the light”. Fortunately, their numbers are dwindling.
He needs a cigarette!
GOOD to see you :)
In fact- I was just wandering around FR looking for some ive thread coverage of this “event”. A friend called me (I was away from tv) to tell me he sounded furious.
Not sure where B.O. is getting is information about Ohio but somebody is cooking the books. One of our relatives works for a pharmaceutical company. Ten days ago they eliminated 75% of their sales force in Ohio. The cuts were made on a national basis as well, but Ohio had the greatest loss.

Years ago I did research on my grandmother’s cousin who was an organizer for the I.W.W. I couldn’t help but think of him while watching Obama. It was frightening to see...........
I've suspected that the real unemployment figure nationwide is much higher than reported by our "honest" government.
The decline in power usage over the past year is a rarity and also an indication of how badly the recession has jolted the economy and changed the way Americans spend.
The shift began last year, when power consumption fell 1.6 percent. Government forecasters see consumption falling another 2.7 percent this year. That would mark the first time since 1949 that the nation has seen energy demand fall in consecutive years.

From the movie The Outlaw Josie Wales 1976:
Carpetbagger: Your young friend could use some help.
[holds up a bottle of patent medicine]
Carpetbagger: This is it... one dollar a bottle. It works wonders on wounds.
Josey Wales: Works wonders on just about everything, eh?
Carpetbagger: It can do most anything.
Josey Wales: [spits tobacco juice on the carpetbaggers coat] How is it with stains?
“We’re on the road to recovery, Ohio, don’t let anybody tell you otherwise,” said Obama

I can’t really say he is wrong, if you were on the road that goes from Nowheresvile to Disneyland but you were headed the wrong way you would still be on the road to Disneyland, wouldn’t you? We are headed in the wrong direction, that much I am sure of, the situation worsens with each passing day but Obama tells us everything is great.
Old airline joke, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain apeaking, thank you for flying Obama airlines, I have good news and bad news, the bad news is we have been flying in the wrong direction, the good news is we are making great time.
Obama: “Who you gonna believe—me or your own lying wallets?”
