After the judgement of the Delhi High Court legalising gay sex, a number of parents have approached private detective agencies to spy on the sexual preferences of their children.
The trend, which was going on covertly for past many years, has seen a significant increase especially after the court verdict, detective agencies say.
"We have been approached by parents to help them in finding their children's sexual orientation. Our detectives spy on them to find out whether their wards are homosexuals or lesbians," said Sanjay Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Indian Detective Agency.
Parents are even taking the help of sleuths to spy on school going children, he said.
Singh said it has become one of the most important features of premarital information as parents want to know the sexual choice of their would be son-in-law or daughter-in-law.
He said detective agencies are providing special training to sleuths to carry out such operations and charge any amount from Rs 20,000 to Rs 80,000 depending on the case.
"There are chances of a boy or girl developing attraction towards a person of the same sex. But as far as the spying on children is concerned, I would say that it should be done in strict confidence," said Punita Sharma, a working parent.
Vindhyachal Pandey, a senior manager with a private firm, said, "There is no problem if parents carry out such checks with the help of detectives to clear their doubts."
When asked, Hemant K Batra, an advocate, said "Finding out children's sexual inclination is alright so long it does not intrude into their privacy."
Good Lord. How can these parents be this disconnected from their kids.
It’s a brave new world.
If your son has a Lady Gaga poster up, he just might be gay... |
If you want to know what your kids are up to, check out their myspace/facebook and their “friends”.
What real ‘parent’ can’t notice this stuff during the formative years of thier child? When a boy is in Jr. High, and the hormones kick in; it does not require a great deal of sluething or subtle observation to tell which gender he is attracted to.
Here’s a hint: If there is a game going on, and at half-time there are hot cheerleaders doing their routine, but he doesn’t notice because he’s staring at the players backsides - that should provide you a clue.
I'm confused, I thought lesbians were homosexuals. Did I miss another bulletin on the current norms of labeling deviant behavior?
And while it may sound creepy, how much different than wanting to know if you kid is a drug user? Risky behavior is still risky, regardless.
This being India, where severe hang-up about all forms of sexuality are common, and they even have more *kinds* of sexuality than we do here, such as enormous numbers of transvestites, and large numbers of eunuchs. They are also pestered by the dowry, and its related horror, bride burning, and in some places Sati (suttee)—widow burning.
Female infanticide is very common, especially with the introduction of ultrasound. And things are probably much worse in the Muslim and communist parts of India.
Their society freaks out with adults kissing in public, much less displays of nudity, is rife with illegal pornography, but permits no nudity in movies, etc.
I can hardly guess what would happen if parents believed their child was a homosexual. But I bet it wouldn’t be good.
A bad sign in this country would be if they never had a date. In India, I think it would be harder to tell, but with arranged marriages it might not be until the wedding night that all is revealed.

That's THE choice? either/or? India's population level in precipitous decline?
Unfortunately, most look like Rosie O'Donnell or Helen Thomas, hence deviant..............
