I suspect the speech that was published had been watered down and revised after the outcry.
Neal has gone over to the other side.....that speach, the watered down version, is still a prayer to obama...
That was a very different speech. Did anyone else read the questions in that recalled lesson plan?? Don’t you think the original speech had ANSWERS to those questions??
Of course there were.
From what I read many folks expected the speech to be innocuous. Concern was about preparation before the speech, and follow up; that is, lesson plans that incorporate leftist propaganda about how our children can "help" the President and support his programs. This kind of indoctrination can go on for years as a result of an innocuous speech.
What have you done for Obama today?
From the prepared remarks:
Youll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment. Youll need the insights and critical thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelessness, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free.
So what was Boortz’s solution (aassuming he had school age children)? There was no uproar until parents found out their kids were going to have to “agree” with President Obama and suggest ways they could “help” him. IMO, Boortz is being a little disingenuous with this article.
Neal doesn’t get it...
The speech was definitely revised several times, but Obama still says “I” 32 times and also dreams up a new history for himself (now he’s a poor black boy, child of a struggling single mother...). Gads, Obama has no shame.
But I’m surprised about Neal Boortz’ lack of objection to the whole concept of this “Dear Leader” address, complete with its classroom study guide and “resolutions” to be made after it, particularly since he is always referring scornfully to the “government schools.” Neal Boortz is a libertarian, though, and sometimes they can have very self-contradictory attitudes.
The speech isn’t the issue. Claiming it is, is a leftist strawman.
Regardless the *innocuous” appearance of the text, the underlying goal is still the same. IMO, the Obama machine doesn't waste any chances to further their agenda.
I wouldn’t want him to have any live speech piped into classrooms. Number one, it’s not part of his job/responsibilities; and number two, I don’t want them to start a precedent. Sooner or later you know what it would turn into...
There’s no mention of van jones.
Obama has appointed communist after communist after socialist after communist.
Not knowing what he was going to say to the kids, but knowing who he is and who he surrounds himself with is enough to spark an outcry.
“Personnel is policy” = associations matter
Boortz does get one thing correct though, Obama can now make a lot of people look like fools on this. But it’s good that he won’t be able to give the speech he wanted to give originally.
Exactly. Boortz doesn’t seem to have considered that the speech was sanitized in response to the outcry. Obama would put as much leftist propaganda in the speech as he could get away with...why else would there have been an idea floated about having schoolteachers make children viewing the speech to write an essay about how they could “help” Obama with his environmental agenda?
I’m fairly certain (by having listened to his show and read this and other pieces he’s written) that Boortz thinks he’s a pretty smart guy. How could he not have considered that Obama is treading carefully with this speech precisely as a result of the anger against it?
The speech was never intended to be anything other than a string of gassy platitudes. The real indoctrination was the job of the NEA agents.
#1) As far as I know, Obama’s speech to Congress is Wednesday, not “tonight” as Boortz states, so much for checking the facts.
#2) Why bother to comment if you don’t include the salient point of the lesson plan, “Write letters about how you can help President Obama?”
The only thing to do TODAY is to make this distinction in the press as LOUDLY as possible but the damage has been done. They responded quickly with a strawman that we didn't shoot down.
