This speech is a total re-write from the time the heat came up on it last week...

The release to the “public” was timed perfectly...Really to late to comment on till this morning for most folks...

And if Neal couldn’t find anything political in there, Neal you need to go to the doctor son...Right now...Don’t pass go, don’t collect your $200...

I do happen to agree that the spin will go against the Republicans...That was an additiona intent of this address to the kiddos...

I can hear (in the next room) the local idiots in the Houston media already (4 times this morning) talking the points given to them about how innocent this address is and that somebody from Texas (oh muh God, Obama mentioned Texas!!! swoon) is featured in the speech!!! And thos hateful Republicans kept our kids from hearing Obama mention someone from Texas in his speech to my kids!!!

I think I am going to go throw up...BRB...

Could not disagree more. This speech is the warm up for the 9/11 Day of Service BS that is coming our way. I I I and me me me is what Obama’s school speech is all about, just as always with this demented narcissist.

From what I read many folks expected the speech to be innocuous. Concern was about preparation before the speech, and follow up; that is, lesson plans that incorporate leftist propaganda about how our children can "help" the President and support his programs. This kind of indoctrination can go on for years as a result of an innocuous speech.

We should be vigilant about not falling into the Clintonista expectation trap that they successfully lured us into with his grand jury testimony and Boortz is trying to do that with the speech, but he missed what you pointed out: The scheme was not simply a speech that would be forgotten before the first spitball was shot in the next period. It was to be a lot more than that. The key for us is to not forget about the rest of the scheme and keep pointing it out.

Obama is the fool, not any parent who raised their voice against allowing this event in our school classrooms.

The uproar was not against any speech that had not been released in advance. The backlash was in response to the lesson plans which despite being watered down, still exist on-ine in their original text.

The objection is that hussein is a marxist boortz and he was going to start the long road to indoctrination for our kids so that when one of his daughters takes over as dictator, she will have a willing populace. hussein is a commie neal... and apparently you are too you beltway pos... screw you boortz!

All proof exists in the original lesson plans, still avaiilable on-line in their un-watered down format.

It was never about a benign speech, Neal. It is, however, about the other nefarious DoE propaganda that went with it, such as lesson plans for teachers, homework assignments for the kids, and our kids feedback to Dear Leader to reinforce his hold on them.

These questions keep running through my mind as I read the articles and our comments:

1. If we don’t trust our teachers to do the right thing, why are our kids in these schools?

2. Is it not an amazing thing that the schools so willingly go along with the speech and lesson plan? Why are our kids in these schools?

3. If we recognize that these teachers pose an ideological danger to our kids, why are our kids in these schools?

4. If we are truly this concerned over 0bama giving a speech and the lesson plan that teachers would/will use, are the teachers really that willing to be useful idiots to the government? If so, why are our kids in these schools?

5. Someone mentioned up thread about the crazy idea your kid comes home with and it is hopeless to deprogram them, as parents we have all had this happen. Again, if we have reached the point that we have lost trust in teachers, why are our kids in these schools?

It does make you wonder what Obama’s administration (and czars) have been up to for the last several days while we have distracted ourselves by this issue. The news media has been more than happy to play along and make this the main story for our entertainment as well. With the health care bill along with Cap & Trade still out there along with all the arm twisting and deal making that is happening to see both of them through, it doesn't take much to distract the American public from the important things. The indoctrination we really have to worry about is going to happen Wednesday night at 8:00 pm (est), when the children we send to Washington to represent us will have to sit down for yet another spellbinding speech from Dear Leader on what he wants them to do, and to forget everything they have heard from their voters for the last month. Today, my two kids, 6 and 9 will watch along with the rest of their class a boring speech by an adult. My 6 year old will tune it out as soon as it starts because she's very good at ignoring voices of authority regardless of the speaker's delivery skills. My 9 year will hopefully remember my instructions to keep his mouth shut, be respectful and report back to Dad on anything suspicious. I can only hope he doesn't go off on a triad about Obama spending all the money my son hasn't even earned yet. It could happen. We did have the option of the teachers pulling our kids out of class during the speech, but it sounded too much like segregation, name taking, cataloging and categorizing to us. They don't need that at their age, when there will be plenty of opportunities for that in the future.

Neal conveniently forgets the outcry from Americans put a halt to the lesson plan. Originally, kids were to study Obama, his speeches, and his fictional novels in preparation for his speech to them.

you are all correct. And Boortz, he’s correct, too. Politics is difficult, especially when one of the rules is that “conservatives are not allowed to think.”

cPete, who knows that politics is easy when your opponents are right-wingers.

Even if she tunes it out as you hope, they still have the lesson plan to answer.

Look carefully. You have included the word "other" where in the speech he does not. It was specifically worded that way, I believe, to be both truthful (he was NOT an American kid) and deceptive - (wanting the listener to believe he was to be included in that group)

EXACTLY! Which is why I didn't have 'other' in the quotation marks with "American kids." He Clinton-parsed it.

The gooberment will haul you to jail and put your kids into their gooberment indoctrination program of foster homes if you do not put them into these public training facilities for marxism... oh some states allow home schooling or privates schools... but look who is trying to outlaw that and they have in many places. The left is exactly like radical muzzies... they are patient and work through incremental-ism.

If there is a lesson plan with actual tasks involved, she will hate Obama for making her do something. If Obama wanted to really get our children's attention and keep it, he would have already had a "fun loving" Obama cartoon character staring in his own show on one or all of the cartoon networks everyday. Nothing makes a young kid go slack-jawed and zone-out more quickly than a good cartoon.

Yeah. That was my take.

I haven’t read Bush 41’s speech. I have read Reagan’s and it was much more about politics in an up front way. Also it was a swan song, delivered after the 1988 elections. The wise old guy sharing his thoughts. Kind of an anticipatory role change, from executive to sage.

0bummer is far more of the Mao type. “I am your wise and good leader.”

I am getting increasingly irritated with TR. It seems he kind of came up with the “strong president” and “bully pulpit” theory of the executive branch. And, with the exception of Coolidge, just about every president since has been big into how splendid he was.

I think we were and are right to object. And I’m astoniehd the Boortz (unless I missed it) didn’t comment on 0bummer’s saying he was working for schools and textbooks and all. ot his job, dammit!

“I suspect the speech that was published had been watered down and revised after the outcry.”

Ya think? I mean - sheesh - they changed the language in the post-speech *study materials*. OF COURSE, they changed the language in the speech. Anyone that thinks otherwise is deluded.
