Someone too irresponsible to pay their traffic fines from 30 years ago untill he was on his way to the White House shouldn't be talking about "responsibility" to kids, and parents should all give their kids a P.A.S.S. on Pres'ent DUh-bama's dictates. Instead of an "opt out", Parents school administrators as well as teachers should stand up and give him a salute...
Here's to you Hussien!

The bus stops outside my home were practically empty this morning. I saw only two kids out of what normally would be about 35.

I opted-out my son from watching his speech. The guy doesn’t have a clue why America is free and he’s going to tell my kid to work hard and make America ‘more free’? Idiot.

From the lesson plan.
“Why is it important that we listen to the president and
other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members
of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?”
“Create posters of their goals. Posters could be formatted
in quadrants, puzzle pieces, or trails marked with the
following labels: personal, academic, community, and
country.”
Why is this unimportant to you?

“After seven months of being told that they dont matter, half the country is returning the sentiment.”
Too true!! He tried so hard to convince about 50% of Americans that they were too backward and crude to MATTER that well... we finally got the drift.... We're finally convinced!!!
Take your wall-to-wall Obama and stuff it, can it or serve it up hot to the 50% who give a s^%$ but we're not having it. Remember, we don't matter!!!

When you look at the lesson plan, it does not match the speech as it has been released now. The Narcissist in Chief changed it in order to make those opposed look bad.

I’ve read bits and pieces of the “lesson plan,” including the section you quoted, here on FR.
I totally understand why many parents would/will keep their kids home today, I just don’t happen to be one of them. If I even contemplated such a move my daughter would have been all over me about it. Today’s the 1st day of school, and her 1st day in Middle School, nothing short of an act of God would have kept her away today, and I don’t blame her.
Even if they were to implement the entire “lesson plan” I would not be concerned, as she’s pretty grounded in her positions, even at 11. She put up with a lot of grief last year with her support of McCain/Palin, but stood her ground and never backed down.
Knowing her, if they do show the speech in school, it will be the very first thing she tells me when she gets home.

IF he wasn't using the children as a shield then more people wouldn't be so upset. He is a manipulator and since alot of schools are not even in class yet it appears that this does have an ulterior motive.

Of course the birth certificate court case TODAY is really wouldn't be an excuse would it.

"Write goals on colored index cards or precut designs to post around the classroom.
Interview one another and share goals with the class to create a supportive community.
Participate in school‐wide incentive programs or contests for those students who achieve their goals.
Write about their goals in a variety of genres, such as poems, songs, and personal essays.
Create artistic projects based on the themes of their goals.
Graph individual progress toward goals."

So you dont mind if the program becomes a continuing recrutment and activist program?

Not only is it that we don’t trust “Obeyme,” but we know from past Obama theatre, his goal is to present himself as “totally cool” to all these blank-slate young minds.
Even if he doesn’t politicize today’s speech, he’s laying the groundwork for the future evil handiwork of the Obama/Emanuel Regime.
Parents should NOT let him have this opportunity.

Of course the birth certificate court case TODAY is really wouldn't be an excuse would it. Of course, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. He's looking to "control" the evening news. No doubt in my mind.

geez, does this mean we have to endure yet ANOTHER beer summit only this time with parents who dont trust Obama?
There isn't a single forum large enough to hold all the "miscreants" who dare to oppose O'bozo...

"Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by
reading books about presidents and Barack Obama."
Instead of that, maybe they could read books authored by BHO and discover what he really thinks -- or better yet, play the audio version for the class.
