WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama takes on the bitter healthcare reform debate on Wednesday with a high-stakes speech to the U.S. Congress on his top domestic policy priority.
Aides have promised Obama's nationally televised address will provide specifics about his vision for overhauling the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare system -- although they said he will not offer his own legislation.
"The president will outline his plan moving forward," both on healthcare and how to get a bill passed by Congress, said spokesman Robert Gibbs. "I don't think you'll walk away confused about where he is."
Obama told ABC News in an interview he would use his speech to "make sure that Democrats and Republicans understand that I'm open to new ideas, that we're not being rigid and ideological about this thing, but we do intend to get something done this year."
One administration official said the president would articulate his vision of bringing affordable coverage to those who do not have insurance and more security to those who do.
"His plan will bring reforms that will reduce the unsustainable growth in the cost of health care, which has doubled in the last decade and will again, unless we act," said the official, who requested anonymity.

This is the ObamaDeathCare BHO wants to roll in down our throats. Oh, boy, wouldn't he love to be the Grim Reaper.
Excellent video.
For Obama to lay out his own legislation desires would mean his poll numbers would plummet to the teens. Obama has admitted he wants a single-payer system even though he denies it now.
This Chicago gangster politician is a marxist poser punk.
1-Making the speech at all-people are tired of Obama, he is overexposed.
2-The venue-he will be perceived as attempting to bypass the will of the citizens, and appealing to the least trusted and esteemed people in the country, in order to power his plan into existence.
3-The content of the speech-the voters consider the health care debate even more tedious than the President himself.
4-Our President will attempt to convince us that health care reform is somehow tied to improving the economy-an impossible task that will further erode his popularity and trust, if not place him firmly among the creepiest politicians in a century.
I heard some pol on the radio on the way in saying it was urgent. Give me a break; the only urgent thing is their desire for control.
I don’t think the debate has been “bitter” at all.
In fact, there really hasn’t even been a debate as the liberal proponents have refused to even acknowledge any of their ideas.
The process right now is just Reid/Pelosi/Obama looking for political cover so they can get it passed yet avoid responsibility for their actions.
True indeed. Under the Third Reich, there was Hitlercare, and euthanasia was legalized to kill the ‘useless eaters’ and anyone who still sought after private health care. Obamacare plans to replicate this trend, in America.

Obamacare and Money
I predict the lowest rating of speeches yet.
said spokesman Robert Gibbs. “I don’t think you’ll walk away confused about where he is.” Obama told ABC News...
Hey Gibbs, that is the problem. Enough of us KNOW exactly what Obamas position is and what he wants to do to this Country.
Times “TORT REFORM” is mentioned ? = zero
‘nuff said. Any “reform” is a joke unless you address the greedy lawyers.
He'd have to. You mean to tell me we are going to take a country where a good percentage of the heathcare needs are behaviorly induced. (heart, diabetes, obesity, etc) and we 1. either won't go broke in short order or 2. be expected to radically reduce our lifestyles??
By reducing our lifestyles I mean-- 1. Huge VAT taxes to reduce food consumption. (I live in Sweden, food here is twice or three times what it costs in America)
2. Less driving, more walking. Meaning orchestrated fuel shortages and higher taxes discouraging auto use and discourage rural or suburban living.
Americans ready for that?
Not a chance.

'Doctors told me it was against the rules to save my premature baby'
Note to parents, prospective and otherwise: Seniors aren't the only folks who need to worry...
LLS
Yeah, it aint fun. It's a novelty for about a month then it gets REAL old, real quick.
Well, the expensive everything is never a novelty. That just sucks all the way around. 25% VAT tax on most goods and services. And that is on top of income taxes.
So myknowledge, things ok in Australia?
I'm not at all confused about where and what he is. Not in the least.
I don’t agree. He can move the numbers with an awesome setting tonight and a poll-tested good speech. It is critical that we burn the phone lines to Capitol Hill tomorrow in opposition - to both Republicans and Democrats.
I swear any Republican passing anything that resembles the first try will be met with a fierce phone call or two along with a donation to the person running against them in the next election. I’m tired of this enabling attitude of these azzwipes.
The Washington “political class” sits FAR too secure...
I think it is urgent. The US government is basically broke outside of printing more money.
Making this law gives them a trillion dollars they can suck out of the program (read:the pockets of American taxpayers) and funnel into their schemes. It's also another reason why the program is being delayed 4 years. By the time it becomes active, there won't be any money left to sustain it.
That's why there's a rush, they are simply trying to delay the day of reckoning.
LLS
Exactly. The economy, people’s jobs and their eroding retirement accounts are “ugent”. This Big Brother power grab is not only not urgent and but also hurts the economy rather than helps.
That is, if we can get the fat ass lazy bums to help.
Oh wait, what am I thinking, those would be the democRATS.
Obama Health-Care Speech Bingo
I’m sure you can think of your own cliches and predictable lines, but here’s 25 to get you started. I’d note that making this into a drinking game can easily lead to alcohol poisoning.
1. “The time to act is now.”
2. “Critics of this plan would have us do nothing.”
3. “For too long, we have spent too much money to get too little care.”
4. “The current path is unsustainable. Nothing less than a complete overhaul will give Americans the care they deserve.”
5. “Under my plan, nothing will change for you and your doctor.”
6. “This plan will cover more people, and give better care for everyone.”
7. “This plan will spend less money.”
8. “This debate has been far too divisive, with proponents losing heart, and opponents losing fingers.”
9. “The public option is the best choice, a serious solution, and absolutely necessary for real reform. (applause) Now, that’s not a veto threat.”
10. “Yes, some say we’ve overestimated the savings from preventative care, perhaps exponentially. But others who I will not name say we’ve underestimated the savings.”
11. “It’s unsustainable for Americans like [insert tragic anecdote here].”
12. “It’s time to put aside silly, meaningless terms like ‘socialized medicine’ and ‘death panels’ and ‘the CBO says’ and ‘Douglas Elmendorf.’”
13. “People look at our national deficit ballooning, trillion after trillion, and ask, ‘How can we afford this?’ I look at the same numbers and ask, ‘How can we not?’”
14. “I am tired of hearing insurance companies complain about preexisting conditions. It, like the economy and two wars, is just another problem I inherited from my predecessor.”
15. “As I have said many times before . . .”
16. “Last year, I attacked my opponent for proposing a new tax on employer-based health insurance benefits. Tonight, I will reach across the aisle . . .”
17. “Now I will attempt to undermine potential future rival Mitt Romney by talking about how his plan in Massachusetts is a lot like mine . . .”
18. “I look forward to the day when no 11-year-old girl has to ask me about mean signs in the parking lot.”
19. “Everything about this plan tells us it will be as effective at providing care as the stimulus is at creating jobs.”
20. “By some estimates, wellness programs could reduce our medical costs to zero.”
21. “Let me be clear.”
22. “The American people did not send you here to squabble. They sent you here to help me create a fantastic and historic bill-signing ceremony.”
23. “Remember Ted Kennedy. One look at this man, and you knew he understood the importance of good health to all Americans.”
24. “Sometimes your tonsils are just fine.”
25. “As I said in March, the time to act is now.”
You will notice the verbiage in the title reflects the same concepts we heard during the campaign, the essence of which is,
“Talk about change. Don’t tell the sheeple what the change will actually BE, just talk up the word and sell the concept of Change.”
LMAO great post

That’s pretty good. Seems as if you could double as his speech writer.
So has that grab you as being decisive and a leader? Get something done this year? Not being rigid and ideological? So how does that square with Pelosi's rhetoric?
Obama sounds weak and wishy-washy.
buy a UAW car, get a free flu shot, LOL
