President looks to harness public support for health care reform after month of drift

President Barack Obama said the highly anticipated health care speech he will give before Congress tonight aims to help clarify his proposal and show he's open to fresh ideas when it comes to reform.

"I'm open to new ideas," Obama told "Good Morning America" in an interview that aired ahead of the speech Wednesday. "But we do intend to get something done this year."

Obama's 35-minute speech to Congress on health care will “answer all the major questions” on the contentious issue that has become Obama’s top domestic priority, the White House told The Associated Press reported.

With more than half of Americans planning to tune in to the televised address, according to a poll cited by Bloomberg News, the president has the nation’s ear. One issue that hasn’t been resolved is whether to include a public health insurance option in a final bill. Obama is expected to once again endorse a public option but not make it a deal breaker.

‘Doesn’t matter what you protest as long as you pay your taxes!’
There are many ways to LEGALLY reduce your tax burden. ‘A country boy can survive!’

Ike liked to use press conferences to confuse the reporters. Kennedy and Obama to confuse everyone.

The one thing you can get done this year is to pack your bags.

Mr. President,

Keep your laws off my BODY!

Although, I have to admit that it is refreshing to see that the dems have given up their “pro choice” stance. It is nice to see that they no longer support unlimited privacy between a doctor and patient. Nice to see that they no longer support Roe.

Good to see Obama's pals at the Ministry of Truth are on the ball here.

What is this speech you mention, and will it be broadcast on the TV box? Dang, I hate to be taken by surprise by these things.

Make it “Mr. short term.” The 2010 elections will take care of that.

It seems he is looking for a way to impose the takeover of the healthcare system with or without Congress. Kind of like an Executive Order?

Of course, he will blame the Republicans and FOX News for making the legislative branch of govt unworkable. Pelosi and Reid will smile behind him as he destroys the role of the US Congress.
