The OC register was actually among the most conservative of daily newspapers.

They supported gay marriage, but only if one of the men was a cross-dresser and at least appeared to be a woman in public.

The descendants of Freedom founder R.C. Hoiles launched the bankruptcy case with a 52 percent stake spread across more than 60 family members and trusts. The remaining 48 percent is held by Blackstone Group LP and Providence Equity Partners, which paid about $450 million to buy out some of the smart family members in 2004.

There; fixed it.

I’ve talked with people here that would like to start Conservative weeklies in certain places. That idea may work - coupled with the right advertising mix.

In any case, the main trend is of course online.

o.c. hoiles was the entreprenuer behind the

oc register and colo springs gazette-telegraph,

and others.

both papers were strongly

libertarian.

he supported ronald reagan for governor and president.

after he died, the family wanted to spend their loot,

and turned the management over to socialists.

It was just a matter of time. The OC Register used to be a solid conservative/Libertarian paper, then they slowly changed into the L.A. Times Lite. Running AP propaganda and lots of lefty editorials and letters to the editor. THe last time they called me to subscribe I practically yelled at the woman that I wouldn’t subscribe until they’ve turned around and proven themselves as the legit paper they once were.
