Good News: 1M New Firearms Bought By Americans in August
tammybruce.com ^ | 9/8/09 | Tammy Bruce

That’s right. In one month alone Americans made themselves and this nation safer (from enemies foreign and domestic) by choosing to exercise one our most precious rights–the right to own a firearm.

I think Thomas Jefferson would be especially pleased with this news when we consider a letter he sent to one of his nephews:

“A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the Body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind . . . Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.” –Thomas Jefferson, Letter to his nephew Peter Carr, August 19, 1785

Some of those checks were undoubtedly for multiple firearms :)

Let me once again ask the main question; Where is the corresponding increase of blood in the streets?

Thanks for the heads up on this...great news! You know I heard Beck say again tonight that we MUST watch what Zero’s other hand is doing, again! While the focus was on the healthcare speech, Cass Sunstein was being approved by members of the Senate earlier today. His nomination should be announced tomorrow. Beck said that aside from his animals need lawyers, & no hunting, Cass is also against the 2nd Ammendment - the right to bear arms!

Has anyone heard anymore to this?

In fact I did buy a sweet 28 ga shotgun for my petite (100 lbs) girlfriend to use. I’m teaching her to shoot and she loves pistol shooting. Wants to try clays next so I thought she could handle the 28ga.

Hopefully September will be another great month. I just did my part and picked up a HK45 this afternoon, which had been on order for months. Apparently the HK factory can't keep up with all this demand.

To: jdfromny; anyone

I’ve been wondering for a while, when and how did Tammy Bruce turn from liberal to “conservative”? I mean it’s like she is Berny Golberg II. WHen he first showed up on FNC he was a self described “liberal” then in a short amount of time he morphed into a “conservative”.

I read her stuff once in a while. Her book The Death of Right and Wrong was pretty good. Hey, we need as many people as we can get to fight the Red Whore(d)(sic).

I hate to be the spoil sport but I would be happier if another million people joined the gun groups.

If these are new shooters they should start out with something they can handle more than what is better in a gunfight. Teach them with a .22 and then work up to the larger calibers. Once they learn sight aligment, trigger control and don’t react to recoil move to something just a bit more powerful. Show your friends how much fun it is to shoot and they’ll move up to the larger calibers by themselves.

I just wish the 10 month-long ammo hoarding frenzy would subside long enough for me to buy a few boxes of ammo in the two calibers that I have guns chambered for but which I don't reload. I had to wait several weeks to get delivery of a set of .380 acp dies so I could reload ammo for my new Keltec pocket pistol that took 3 month to get from the backlogged manufacturer to the LGS (local gun shop) where I was on a long waiting list. Next I needed empty brass for reloading .380 ammo and I only had 110 empty pieces on hand that I had picked at the range several years ago but had no .380 caliber pistol at the time to reload for. I'm glad now that I have always been a brass scrounger at ranges in several states where I have shot, and the laughs and ribbing I got from shooting buddies back then was a small price to pay for the empty brass in many calibers that I scavenged decades ago, some of which I am reloading now.

I refused to pay the outrageous prices for the .380 cases that a few people are selling on Gunbrokers, but I finally broke down and surprised myself by making the winning bid on a 250 piece bag of .380 brass, and my bid was quite reasonable although still higher than I would pay in normal circumstances. Although I'm a bit short on primers I now have what I need to reload ammo for every caliber and gauge firearm I own except for a WWII era Italian Carcano military rifle chambered for the somewhat rare 7.35mm Italian military round that was only issued to Mussolini's troops in limited amounts and then abandoned in favor of returning to the original 1890's vintage 6.5mm Carcano round for the Carcano rifles that were being built again after the production run of 7.35mm rifles was cut short. That old rifle is not one that I want to shoot a lot, and that's fortunate because I only have 2- 18 round boxes of 1939 vintage 7.35mm ammo left from the case of original Terni arsenal ammo that I bought in the mid-1960s. I experienced hangfires on almost all of the few rounds of that batch that I fired about 10 years ago, which means the rest of that lot's primers are probably totally inert by now.

I realize that all my rambling on and on ad nauseum about guns, ammo, and what I tend to believe is an unnecessary ammo shortage caused mainly by hoarding is so deadly boring that anyone still reading the post is no doubt nodding off to dreamland where the range is never crowded and ammo is always plentiful. I guess my babbling on and on problem is just that I like to discuss guns, ammo, and reloading issues with people who also know and understand the ever-present urge to bust a few caps every time we get the chance.

No surprise there, so far every OH!bama appointee is an anti-gun zealot just like their boss also happens to be. The only thing that may, just possibly may, save our RKBA from OH!bama & Co. is the Heller decision along with a hopefully favorable decision in the 2nd Amendment incorporation case that will be argued before the Justices later on in the court's new term.

“My favorite lesbian.”

My favorite law-and-order lesbian!!!
She’s a tough gal. Surviving ejection from the Los Angeles National Organization
of Women chapter when she basically called OJ Simpson a murderer...
and taking heat in a classroom at the University of Southern California
for simply suggesting that the detention of Japanese-Americans
after Pearl Harbor may not have been a decent/legal manuever...
but understandable given how the USA felt like they had their backs
to the wall on Dec. 7, 1941 and for at least a couple of years.

I wonder if she got savaged by metioning in the class that a Democrat
violated the legal provision of not using US Census bureau information
for a purpose expressly against the law (using it to track down as
many Japanese-Americans as possible for detention).
