“Her OLD Senate seat doesn’t come up for election again until November 2012. Too long to wait... “
But if she quits State and runs for something, I think it will be for governor, which (i) would not be as embarrassing as trying to get back the seat she gave up less than a year ago and (ii) gives her a better platform for a 2012 presidential run. Cuomo is doing his best imitation of his father’s Hamlet act and will not announce a gubernatorial run (if he’s waiting for Paterson to drop out so as to avoid alienating the black vote, he’s dreaming), and if Hillary announces for governor I think that Cuomo will run for reelection as AG instead. I think Hillary will beta Paterson handily, but reopening old wounds with the black electorate, and that the general election against Giuliani (who will likely run if Cuomo is not running on the Dem side) will be a bona fide barn-burner.
It would look pretty silly if she just tried to get her Senate seat back.
If she wants to hold out hope for a challenge to Obama in the 2012 primaries it would be best for her to dissociate from the administration sooner rather than later.
She can play the savior roll for the NY rats by jumping into the gubernatorial race. Cuomo (wimp) has given her that opening by failing to announce.
Oh the best part, if she loses the race to Rudy or Rick, she’s gone. :-D
She put on weight big time. She needs menopause hormones.
“Oh the best part, if she loses the race to Rudy or Rick, shes gone. :-D”
Rudy could beat her, though.
If Hillary doesn’t run for Governor, another blast from the past could challenge Patterson in the priamry - Eliot Spitzer.
Survey USA ran polling data on a Spitzer comeback. Spitzer would beat Patterson easily, but lose to Cuomo. In the general, Spitzer would lose to Giuliani, but win against a generic republican.
Good God there's ANOTHER one?
I would be shocked if Spitzer attempted a comeback by running for governor right away. Likelier that he would seek his old AG job if Cuomo ran for governor.
I have always assumed Hillary had the dirt on many people. I presume she has somethingn on Obama. The question is when will she release it?
If she had something on him, don’t you think she would have used it during the campaign?
It depends on what it is, and if it can be traced back to her.
Biggest mistake she made was listening to her husband and taking the SOS job instead of staying a senator and having the spotlight.
Yuck. I hope he stays buried.
not sure, but in most states the residency requirement to run for political office is pretty minimal, one year or less I believe..... it’s mostly a question of what the voters of a state will put up with.
I confess that I was one who thought voters of NY would reject the carpet-bagging Hillary back in 2000, at least before it was evident what a weak candidate Lazio turned out to be — plus an overwhelming amount of support and coddling of Hillary from the supposedly tough NY media — they just rolled over for her, that is the few who were not actively flacking her candidacy.
The sad thing is that I would rather have Hillary as president than Obama.
